"The hotel is in a really nice setting in the city but also quiet and secluded. Rooms was clean and of a good size, bed was comfortable and staff could not be faulted - attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. For us the bathroom was a disappointment it was not well designed or laid out and was not a "£180/night" bathroom. The shower cubicle was small, the shower cartridge unit was not secured well and no shelf anywhere in the room making it difficult ot put travel bag and tooth brush etc down - the bathroom itself was huge but seemed to have no thought to its design whatsoever. Away from the room and having a need to use the disabled toilet it is so often the case but always is disappointing to have these used as a store room with no thought to the user especially one with limited mobility, there is no way the hand rail could be moved without moving a variety of bins."

"Room was clean and well appointed for a one nights stay. We paid for breakfast at the hotel the next morning and it was convenient. Only issue at breakfast was coffee machine was being cleaned and took about 15-20 minutes and we were finished eating but had our coffee after."

"The only problem we had was our room was not cleaned when we had access at 3pm. There was some insistence on check in-time being 3pm with no wiggle room, which is fine, but then the room was filthy. Had to leave the apartment and wander around exhausted from travel and unable to check-in until after 4pm. To her credit Hannah, the building manager, tried to make it right with a partial refund. Otherwise the apartment was lovely and comfortable."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay in this beautiful boutique hotel. We booked the room overlooking the Cathedral which was stunning. The room was really large and immaculately designed. The gentleman who checked us in was so friendly and helpful. The walk was no more than 10 minutes to the centre. We were so impressed with this hotel and Durham we would definitely come back."

"Overall: Very nicely clean! Lovely room, bathroom & view. A bit of a hike to get to the actual room itself, but a pleasant one. Facilities: USB ports worked well for charging. No microwave/fridge available in the room I chose, although I should've inquired about this I suppose. Was able to make instant oatmeal for breakfast using the water kettle & mugs provided. Nice tea/coffee options. Didn't try the "grab-and-go" breakfast—costs extra and doesn't seem super nutritious. Careful: Wifi also costs extra after the first 30 mins you use it per 24-hour period. This was frustrating. But it also wasn't very expensive to buy access (something like £3.50 extra per 24 hours). Friendly staff, but no one was at the reception desk initially. Make sure you have cell service if you need to call them—I didn't, but got lucky since some passersby let me use their phone to call reception. Not sure if pet-friendly. Don't use a car to visit Durham. Take the train!"
