Place was clean, beds were comfortable, great area and wish it worked out. A few things that were minor issues and major. When we showed up we went to the front door but someone was already occupying it. We learned on the spot that we were renting not a whole house as listed, but an upstairs unit. The current occupants also thought they were renting an entire home. We also found house keys hanging above the front door which was not made known to us and the owner later told us “it was not necessary to tell us about the keys because we use a code to enter the unit” which to me is a security hazard because anyone could find the keys and enter the unit, they were not exactly hidden considering we saw them no problem. The biggest issue we had was on our second night, at midnight, a couple of men opened our door to the apartment using their personal access code. It was quite scary when it happened and we were all confused. They told us they could not enter using their code but for some reason it worked to get into our apartment. I immediately contacted the host about it. We are not from the area and immediately found and paid for a more expensive hotel the next day. The host offered to refund us the last days we weren’t staying “out of good will”. Eventually with a lot of back and forth through vrbo she agreed to refund the day we had the strangers enter as well. Hopefully for future guests it gets figured out. Definitely a memorable experience :(
