Beyond the location, I was very impressed with the rooms. They have been newly renovated and feel incredibly fresh and modern. "Do not stay here on a weekend if noise is a problem for you. The noise in the rooms facing Whyte Ave can be heard over the ear plugs they give you. Otherwise, this hotel is always great. "

"In a somewhat dodgy part of downtown (Though there is seemingly always uniformed security in the lobby!) Building is quite run down, and overall the feel is that of a 1980's hotel which has undergone miminal upgrades. "

If you simply require a place to sleep in the Whyte Ave. neighbourhood, the Commercial is a good option. The historic pub downstairs is a bonus. Lots of dining spots within a couple of blocks, plus the nearby Farmers Market, bookshops, and many great local businesses. "
