"The Grange Lancaster was shut and we had no information about this on the website. On arrival, the only information was a tiny notice on the entrance of the hotel redirecting us to another of the grange hotels. On arrival at that hotel, there was no record of our booking and was directed to a third hotel within the chain. We spent over an hour after a long journey trying to check in. "Arrived early and was allowed to check in (an hour early), got to room and upon first look it was great, bathroom super clean and the shower and tub were beautiful…the bathtub was a soaker one and was so spacious (want one at home now). Issue we had was the TV was broken and they weren’t able to replace it that night so we had no TV, but they did give us a 30 pound credit to the bar. All the staff we met were super friendly and helpful."

"Clean, cozy room, air con was a bonus. A kettle would have been nice, on check out we were told there was hot water for teas etc available at reception. Good breakfast. Convenient location with a short walk to Kings Cross station. Helpful staff. Could store luggage for the day for a small fee per bag."

"Really good climate control in the rooms. All rooms are set to 22 degrees Celsius. However, you can adjust that up or down by 3 degrees in either direction. The rooms are all studios so they're spacious with nice views. The beds are super comfy, the lobby area is very inviting with comfy couches, a bar area and a cafe/lounge area. This is my second stay and I would definitely stay again. Love this place."

"Bed was comfortable. Pillows were flat. Bedding, bath, toilet and sink were clean. Carpet was sticky and there were lots of dust and webs in every corner. TV was huge (which was great for the England game!) Air con was BRILLIANT! was 30 degrees when we visited so this was an added bonus! Location was great for where we needed to be. We used the uber boat and the shuttle boat a few times (shuttle free if you show them hotel booking). Breakfast was poor. No bacon, mushrooms or tomatoes. Staff on the desk when checking in were rude, sharp and seemed like they really didn't want to be there. All in all, the size of the TV and the aircon was worth every penny! we were only here for one night so didn't feel any need to complain or moan."

"Hotel was in an ideal location to explore Tower Of London area, right beside Tower Hill tube station. Loved the rooftop bar and the social area downstairs. Plenty of amenities in room including a good hairdryer. We paid more for a higher floor which worked out well. Would stay again"

The Z Hotel Holborn

"I chose this hotel for its central location within 6 minutes of Holborn's Underground station. Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden and Oxford St. are easily walkable from the hotel. I especially liked the daily breakfast (GBP 13.95) with fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, baked goodies, juices and prepared foods (my favorite was the ham and cheese omelette). The staff heated the cold food upon request, and the front desk staff were efficient. The hotel was very clean, and housekeeping did a great job of cleaning my room every two days. I failed to notice when booking that the Queen room with window consists of only 10 square metres. The bed abutted the window with the length of the bed filling the width of the room, occupying one-third of the room. I was not impressed by the Sky television service. There were about 25 channels listed, of which one-third were sports, several were not available, and the balance bore no relation to the Guide (with the actual program being totally different from the Guide description). I only gave 3 stars to the room amenities. For those of us who are used to the North-American standard room amenities, be aware that the Queen room with window room did not include a clothes closet, drawers, chair, microwave, coffee maker, fridge, etc. My decision to book might have been different had I known that this was a very basic room. Nevertheless, I did enjoy my five-night stay at the hotel and will consider staying there again."
