"The staff of the a&o are excellent. They are the reason why I gave this place a 5 star. For a hostel, it was also very clean and well taken care of. I appreciated the restaurant and bar that was on the ground level. It was a nice place to relax and wait for our room to be ready. "Great location for exploring Edinburgh, city centre is easily walkable. Arrived late due to transport issues and host was very accommodating. Room was downstairs so no windows, but was clean and a nice place to stay in. Private bathroom wasn’t en suite which wasn’t an issue, but I feel like this could have been made clearer when booking. Other than that, great price for a very convenient location. "

The things I did not like were: the shared toilet located across the room even though I booked an ensuite one - called and messaged the owner but no response; only 1 hanger available for our jackets, and the motion-activated light in the toilet automatically shuts off so I was having a shower in the dark lol"
