"I stayed in one of the rooms with the open air bath on the balcony, and it was one of the best views I've had at onsen. The room was great! I thought the men's public bath was a little run down, but still enjoyable. My wife thought the women's was very good and didn't mention any issues. I hope they can fix it back up because it's a beautiful hotel! I would definitely go again for the same room we had!"

"The surrounding area is beautiful. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rate included breakfast which was nice. However, this is an all-smoking room hotel - contrary to what it’s listed as. There was no noticeable odor in the room, but might not be the same for all. And they’re having trouble with the hot spring source so there’s no onsen water to the room balcony baths (my main reason for booking), and their regular hot spring will be sometimes closed. That was the most disappointing part. "

"We absolutely loved our short stay at Nikko Turtle Inn. The area is so beautiful, and it was convenient to all the Nikko attractions (we had a rental car). The property was adorably retro (but comfortable), the staff was delightful, and the on-site onsen are private. We are heavily tattooed, and finding an onsen that allows us in is not easy. We appreciate that it was not a problem!! We would absolutely stay at Nikko Turtle Inn again!! "

"Quite a number of insects (suspected mosquitos) appeared in the room time to time even though the windows were all closed. Onsen bath is not opening 24 hours."

"Very nice and helpful people running the hotel. However, the place is VERY hard to find and reach, especially at night time. Moreover the room was exceptionally cold, including the mattress, so that I was forced to put a blanket below and another on top so as not to freeze. On the upside, as I said, the owner was really nice and even offered me to take me to the train station in the morning."
