"★★★★★
Five stars, because I’m genuinely amazed by this experience.
We stayed during an Iowa State game weekend and paid roughly $350 per night. Fine by me. Supply and demand. Charge what the market will bear.
What’s impressive is pairing premium pricing with the absolute minimum amount of effort possible.
A room that achieved “barely clean enough.” An elevator loud enough to announce every trip. HVAC that provided plenty of noise and occasional temperature control. Breakfast items that...
"For a quick stay in Ames it's perfect. I was concerned initially because of the ratings, but gave it a chance anyway. The staff I came in contact with were welcoming and helpful! The front desk gentleman was very attentive and friendly! There was a lady that worked the breakfast stations (I didn't catch her name) she was absolutely wonderful, personable and sweet. The rooms were very simple (not fancy), but clean (and I look at everything!!!) As a single female traveler I felt very safe there....
"Beds were very comfortable. Front desk attendant was nice and courteous.
Aside from that, pretty unremarkable. Bathroom was not very clean and sink that is located in the room and not in the actual bathroom appeared old and weathered. Enough so that we avioded drinking the water from the faucet and used water bottles.
It's a good place to stay if all you need is a bed. Being that it was a college football weekend, the prices were inflated, of course, because I would never pay that amount...
"First impressions of lobby were of mold and chlorine. Just needed a place to sleep for the night though and everything else nearby was sold out. The room we stayed in was filthy. Stains on walls, dirt everywhere. Looked like it hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned in years. Breakfast room was near the pool I usually like the waffles at a hotel breakfast, but breakfast room was so gross and smelled so bad we left without eating"
"Room was clean. Problem with electric for fridge, microwave, outlets in that part of room. Pool was out of order. Staff was nice and friendly. Breakfast was okay, plenty of options. Parking was close."
"I noted that the smoke alarm was missing from the room, just wires dangling from the ceiling.
The management seems well intentioned but overwhelmed.
I thought there was supposed to be a breakfast offered, but didn’t track it down.
Outside of the building was not well cared for.
I WAS allowed to check in early and I was grateful!!
As noted before, no fire alarm in the room."
"The room was not clean.
The bathroom was not clean.
Two towels where not clean.
I killed three Roaches in the room.
Less the half a row of toilet paper on day one.
Will never stay here again."
"While it looks very unassuming from the outside, the hotel was a very pleasant stay. Room was clean, breakfast was nice, and the staff was pleasant. Very pleased with the experience."
