"This is an amazing place to go for a relaxing getaway! The host was so amazing and the place was incredibly clean. It is about a 30 minute walk from town so you will get your steps in if you do not bring a car. I will definitely be coming back here next time I am in Madeira!"

"Hotel bien situé! Chambre spacieuse avec un balcon pratique pour discuter le soir. Chambre où il fait chaud sans ventillo ni clim. Malheureusement la quartier est bruyant avec un bar en dessous et des chiens qui aboient la nuit. Le petit déjeuner est plus que médiocre.. comptez bien 30 min avant d'être servi. On a le droit a 2 commandes maximum. Pain sec et les yaourts chimique. Serveur peu agréable ni souriant La dame de l'accueil est très gentille et parle un peu français ! Convenable...

"The house makes a good impression on the first sight and was perfectly clean. But the kitchen equipment was lacking basics like bread knife (provided on request), a sieve or sufficient amount of bowls. At the stove only 3 of 5 plates worked. Both showers were flooding the bathrooms every time. Sleep was interrupted each night several times by barking dogs in the neighborhood (really noisy) and in two sleeping rooms darkening was not possible. The renting agency and craftsmen entered the house...

"A spacious apartment and clean linen, plenty of storage with a nice view of the ocean from the balcony. Washing machine was an added bonus but kitchen is outdated and was unusable due to putrid smell coming from drains, en suite bedroom tv shelf was held up by a chair, in the shower room the shower head was wrong size and kept falling out of the holder injuring one persons shoulder and one with a cut on his nose. I took this on Madeira Island, Portugal last May :). It was a dream come true to visit this enigmatic island. I was suppose to visit it back in March but had to unfortunately cancel. But, I had plans to travel in May so I decided to include Madeira! It was really well worth it. I took a few tours but on this particular day I walked solo. A few hour walk in the Serra de Água Valley. Breathtaking scenery was all-around. Mountains, valleys and amazing colors! And this was one of my favorite views! There was actually not many views of this mountain from the path I was walking. I could have very easily missed it! I am glad I didn't, though. And I came at the right time, too - sunset time :). Madeira Island was the 2nd part of my trip. Finland being first, due to a music festival I was attending. And then a day in Helsinki. And I ended my trip in Switzerland. Was quite a contrast between Madeira & Switzerland ;). And both so beautiful in their own way. A journey I'll never forget!
