"A nice hotel situated in the centre of Cockermouth. Lots of pubs and restaurants nearby, especially the steakhouse which is attached to the hotel. I can recommend this. Parking is in the council car park opposite for which there is a charge but it is very cheap. £6.60 for 24 hours. Inside the hotel is very old, (but nice) with low ceilings, crooked floors and exposed wooden beams. Stunning. "This was a business trip and the pub was the closest B&B, I found the staff fantastic always eager to help in anyway they could the owner of the pub was first class this coupled with great food and a good range of bears on draft made my stay excellent. We did have a cotbed but it could still be a bit bigger for the kind of hotel it is. The mattress were a bit on the harder side for our liking but it depends on what you are used to. "The bathroom was clean, as was the bedroom, except carpet was very worn & not so clean looking. We had twin beds, which were comfortable. We ate dinner at the pub that evening & the food & service were both good! The included, cooked to order breakfast was very tasty. All the staff were helpful!"
