"Clearly once a grand hotel, it still has a lot of charm but some parts are a little tired. My lower ground floor room had no heating switched on, even the electric heated towel rail was disconnected. Comfy bed and fine staff, a peaceful and safe location. Would stay again. "

The whole site had a lovely feel and the other building with the pool etc looked very modern and also had some nice cosy seating areas. We didn't use any facilities but had a look around and everything looked brand new! Would love to stay here again. "

"Booked on the day due to a change in plans. Positive: Staff very helpful, room clean and modern, nice location and good atmosphere at 'hotel' (which is really a conference centre), very convenient to walk along river, into Cookham, ample free parking. There was an function at the hotel but I was warned and noise was minimal. Nice breakfast included. Negative points: Only that the room was well equipped but very small (remember for conference delegates really). Ok for a one night / short stay but...

"Clean room and a great breakfast. Didn’t like that a cheap rate meant you had to drag your bag a long distance up and down stairs. No elevator. Otherwise happy."

"Nice clean hotel, but bedrooms very dated. Window held together with worn out cello tape. OK in the summer but I imagine cold in the winter. Shower head would not stay up and cubicle old and rusty. Plug sockets loose and TV aerial socket fell out. "

"The water pressure in the ground floor, refurbished room was very poor indeed making the shower and basin running water pathetic! Not the best! Room was otherwise very good."

"A very comfortable hotel with attentive and polite staff. Attention to detail around cleanliness of rooms could have been better. Lots of dust in corners and toilet/bathroom a little lacking in detail. "

"Clean basic accommodation attached to an interesting old inn. Modern bedroom resembling Premier Inn, good value for the price paid snd in an ideal location as we were passing through Basingstoke on the way to Southampton. Breakfast was not included but offered at a supplement. Variety offered on the menu looked good but we overslept in the comfortable beds and so had to run. "
