That said, the rooms themselves are extremely basic. They look and feel more like a boy scout camp cabin than a lodge in such an extraordinary location. Very barebones, no charm or comfort touches you’d expect given the setting. If you come here, come for the views and the location — but don’t expect the accommodations to match the scenery."

"Fantastic lodging option and very affordable. The rooms are located above a very popular bar that does Karaoke night which is very fun and lively. Everytime I told people in the area I was staying at the Fairview Inn they would always ask me questions about the place because of its rich history. Be aware though that the rooms are quite small and there are shared bathrooms, but with two bathrooms you won’t have to wait long to use them and they’re cleaned every day. I highly recommend the Fairview Inn if you’re okay in a smaller space and just need a room for sleeping while enjoying what Alaska has to offer."
