"It is a 'quirky' older hotel with some nice features. Our room was decorated with purple wallpaper covered with pink hearts and had a plastic flower covered swing in the middle of the room. The bed was very high and quite hard to get in or out of. A small stool would have been useful. Some of the other rooms appeared to be very small. On the plus side the building is old (how many centuries?) with lots of character. The food in the pub was excellent - both the included breakfast and the optional...

"The staff were lovely with nothing too much trouble. The food was superb in an amazing dining room with proper tablecloths and napkins ! This is a wonderful 800 year old castle with no lift so, if you have walking difficulties, ask for a room on the first floor. The public rooms are magnificent but the bedrooms, while perfectly comfortable, would benefit from being brought up to date. Anyway, all in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay and we shall be sure to return. "

"What a beautiful place. Sue was a fantastic communicator and texted me the details the day before to ensure an easy check in process. When we arrived, wow!! The outside of the property is like a post card idyllic. The inside was absolutely beautiful also. All original flooring with a modern twist. Room was clean, welcoming and just stunning. Really loved the window shutters. All our needs were catered for down to the fresh organic milk which was simply divine. We decided we didn’t want to leave...
