"Our stay was a very special traditional ryokan experience. The location right next to the river/waterfall makes for a scenic backdrop, that just elevates the experience. Our room was rather big and we loved the decor. The spas are large and all have an in- and outdoor area. We also booked massages and the private spa and both where very nice. Breakfast is traditional japanese. We went by car and there was parking close to the hotel, but there is also a bus station right in front of the lobby."

"The Yunomori onsen ryokan was one of the best places I've ever stayed at. The Kaiseki breakfast and dinner was incredible and the staff were 10/10 amazing. We had an in-room onsen and it was perfect. The entire place was clean and incredibly cozy. I would absolutely recommend Yunomori to anybody! It's a short walk to Yuno Lake nearby and also some beautiful waterfalls. I highly recommend this place to stay in Nikko. It was a very special experience for us. "

Kinugawa Onsen Hotel

Nikko

10/10 Excellent

I should have booked 2 nights to really enjoy! Everything was excellent. My 1st time in Japan and this was lovely. Staff checking me in spoke great English. I booked a huge tatami room and had a balcony overlooking the river. There is a turn-down service while you’re at dinner. Buffet was fantastic and the whiskey was not watered down at all! Definitely try the sesame ball things for desert. There are clear English instructions on how to use the onsens and an app that shows you how crowded...

Rakuten STAY VILLA Nasu

Nasu

10/10 Excellent

If I could give this place more than five stars, I absolutely would! This beautiful private villa in Nasu Highlands was beyond our expectations. The modern Japanese design, peaceful surroundings, and warm atmosphere made us feel like we were staying in our own home. The villa was brand new, spotless, and cleaned perfectly—there was not a single speck of dust anywhere. Every detail was thoughtfully prepared. The full kitchen had all the cookware and dishes we needed, and the Nescafé machine with...
