One of these is the grave of Captain Noel Chevasse VC and bar, the Medical Officer of the 10th Battalion Kings Regt. One of ony three people to have been awarded the VC twice, any the only one , to have achieved this in a single conflict. #OnTheRoad

"AVOID. The place is disgusting. They over charged us/ripped us off. The area smells of poo (as it’s in a farm). The pool is green/mouldy. The receptionist had the worst most acrid body odour I’ve ever smelt. We were shown a smelly, small dark room (which we declined) We were going to stay at first having booked a room for 2 adults and 2 children. "This is a house and not a hotel which was fine for us. But if you want breakfast, you have to go to the store and buy supplies. No food service at all. Hard to get a hold of the owner to get the keys. The phone number we had was incorrect. This was a new listing with Hotel.com and bugs not worked out. The extra money had to be paid in cash and was supposed to be paid upfront for the cleaning and linens and towels. No chance to use a credit card. Not ideal for travelers from outside...

"This is by far the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in Europe! When they say five stars, they mean it!!! As soon as we walked into the hotel, we were warmly greeted. The staff is exemplary and immediately makes you feel like a valued guest! The gentleman checking us walked us to our room, turned on the lights, and showed us some of the amenities on our way to our room. The room is so comfortable and beautiful! Even the room coffee and filtered water are wonderful details that exceed any other hotel! The architecture is a masterpiece as they retro fit this luxury hotel into an existing building. The art in the hallways, the centered lounge, and spa are so classy and chic! I’m thankful that I got to rest here after three tiring days of exploring Christmas Markets in Belgium and Germany. This hotel sets the gold standard!"
