Hotel Indigo Gloucester The Forum By IHG

Hotel Indigo Gloucester The Forum By IHG

8/10 Good
"This hotel is not easy to find, even by taxi , as it is so new ( opened Match 2026) that SatNavs don’t know about it or indeed about Cathedral Walk, the new pedestrian street where it is based and which surprisingly is an eight minute taxi ride from the Cathedral Even when walking along the adjoining long- established Station St, there is no obvious sign that the restaurant you can see is part of the Indigo Hotel. But persevere. Because the restaurant is good, particularly for breakfast which is cooked to order and most definitely not entirely self service. The rooms themselves seem generous in size, and very imaginatively designed Very comfortable beds. The staffing is enthusiastic and pleasant, if occasionally a little amateur- when asked to order a taxi you are pointed to an Uber self serve machine, with no mention of the rank just 50 yards away. Discretion about being able to contact other guests by internal telephone seems a bit overdone. We had booked two rooms simultaneously, beforehand, but there were real problems in finding out which room colleagues were in. But overall this is a breath of fresh air which Gloucester almost certainly needs I hope the considerable investment that has been made into creating such a modern ambience proves successful."

"First of all the room was difficult to find as you had to go through an extra room door to get there. A big sign said 5 room numbers but only 2 room doors and neither my room number. Tried calling reception no answer. Eventually found a hotel maintenance person who showed me a very tiny sign printed in a small font that was difficult to read on one of those doors which said it led to 2 more rooms. Each had another door with key swipe. (Probably good for families) Better signage or info about finding the room, from reception would have helped. The room was extremely dark (although the bathroom was extremely large and bright) and nothing special for the money paid. When I was parking (free), I hoped my room had a water view but sadly it didnt have any view! It overlooked, and was above an entrance foyer which was noisy as people trundled cases. People on the 1st floor could see in your room as they walked down the corridor so had to close the curtains. I was there for an event which was good and the food nice. The breakfast was plentiful but no weetabix or fried eggs. Restaurant and some rooms - but sadly not mine- had a lovely view."

"Period charm hotel and lovely room with large king sized bed. The food in the bar was disappointing and didn’t reflect well on the hotel"

"Fabulous stay once again, this is our 4th stay, the last stay about 3 years ago, and the hotel is just as good if not better. The room was very comfortable with a coffee machine, cookies etc. The staff team were very helpful and professional. We had dinner in the restaurant and that, as well as breakfast, was delicious. One minor point that did not spoil our stay whatsoever, something in the shower to hold the shower gel, shampoo etc."

"AC was not very good, fortunately it wasn’t too hot when we visited, but would imagine a heat wave would be tough. Hotel was nice, showing its age in places. Staff were helpful and friendly!"

Wild Thyme & Honey

Wild Thyme & Honey

10/10 Excellent
"Ive stayed in nicer rooms , ive ate in nicer bars but ultimately its the people that make a hotel. And the people at wilde thyme and honey are fantastic. A special shout out to Izy who couldn't do enough to help. The rooms are cosy and warm with thoughtful touches like pillow spray and a spot of sloe gin which was beautiful, the on site restaurant/ pub was lovely with a great drinks selection. The pantry is a useful addition for extra bits that you may need during your stay. One genuine gripe is that the car park is dangerously dark after dark. There is no lighting at all. All in all it was great. I would return for sure."
