The beautiful beach at Applecross in Scotland which looks across to the Isle of Skye. The village was so remote that it didn't actually get electricity until 1955.

We drove up and across the single mountain track to get here, the views were incredible and the final destination very worthwhile.

"We really enjoyed our stay here. The cottage suited our needs, and we appreciated the amenities in the cottage, including the laundry, kitchen and shower facilities. The setting is lovely and quiet, and we enjoyed walking and exploring the village, the stunning views, and finding sea glass by the shore. It definitely suited our budget as we were able to drive into the Isle of Skye, spend the day, and drive back to the cottage for the night, The cottage is also close to Eilean Donan castle...

"Rural and fabulous. Small town. Access to "major" highways. A few local restaurants and a grocery store. It's a great home base or a great place to stay for a few days. It's right on the ocean and a cool dock with some fishing (lobster?) boats. Loved it."

"We came here for a shirt honeymoon and loved it, we have always loved Glenelg and this house is the perfect place to experience it - lovely large windows for watching the water (even better on a stormy day) and cosy interior with log burner for eveningKitchen facilities perfect, wouldn't change anything!"

"Great location, very clean, excellent host… parking isn’t easy, but a smaller car (than our midsize) would’ve handled that better."

"I had an excellent stay at the Sligachan Hotel. The hotel is steps away from breathtaking scenery for walking or hiking and a quick bus/car ride to Portree for shopping and dinner. Martin, the manager, was so helpful and kind. He drove my friend and I from Portree to our train because the bus schedule that day was not aligning well with our train schedule and morning activities. He also gave us great tips on the best things to do on the Isle of Skye and made sure that all of the guests were enjoying their stay. The breakfast was high quality - I loved the smoked salmon and eggs and the fresh fruits and yogurts. The receptionists were always friendly and helpful whenever we had any questions. I would recommend the Sligachan hotel to anyone who wants a comfortable stay right near the Cuillian Mountains and a quick commute to Portree."
