"Oaks on the River couldn't be more different from the chain hotels and mostly in good ways. The physical layout of rooms set in multiple buildings including two 200-year old mansions is the most obvious. Our king size bedroom felt very king-size. We arrived late in the rain and found our room with A MAP. Dining room was filled but the room service option was there. The breakfast buffet was wonderful and well worth its $25 charge, The grounds and dining areas in the mansions were striking. We chose OotR by chance in the midst of a 1600 mile driving trip but plan to return to stay and visit NYC."

"At such a low room rate, i was a little leery of staying there. I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and comfort of the room. My only complaint is that the toilet is far too low for a 73-year-old with a bad leg to use, no grab bar. Otherwise, excellent! "
