"They said the cooker was broken however we feel that they should have had someone to repair it asap. We understood there was no Tv or wifi but in this day and age anything is possible even if you have to raise the price. We were not told about electricity that it was a key meter it was only when an alarm was going off we traced it to electric box to find there was only 50p left on it we put key on and it added another £15 which went nowhere these are very expensive devices. "It's a lovely place well maintained the chap in reception was very helpful. If you like remote places you need to visit. There is a bit of a shop in reception. But as it's self catering I would recommend you stock up as the nearest spar is 30 miles away. Hopefully we will be returning at some time."

"We LOVED our stay at this cottage! It was so beautiful and picturesque, exactly as shown. A great place to unwind and enjoy the quiet. We did a couple of short day trips so even though it was remote it was a good spot to spring off from. The kitchen had everything we need (although all we did was cook breakfast there) and the laundry machines were so appreciated. Our kids found tadpoles in the stream out back and we were visited by the many deer every evening. Fiona was very communicative. We would definitely love to stay again and recommend to anyone looking to get up to the highlands!"

The Challenger Estate - Lodge

"We had a wonderful stay on the Challenger estate. We were very lucky with our weather and managed a wild swim in the loch, visits to Dornoch beach, The Falls of Shin (where we saw salmon leaping), Smoo Cave on the north coast and hired a boat from the Lairg Angling Club to be able to fish (with our own gear) on the loch. We stopped by Channonry Point near Inverness on our way home (an hour after low tide) and saw dolphin feeding right in front of us. The house was very comfortable. Well stocked kitchen, huge TV in the livingroom. Shanta was excellent with communication and the welcome pack (for us and the dog) were fab. There is a dog bed in the kitchen and dog bowls provided."

"C'est un petit coin de paradis, une maison très agréable à vivre, lumineuse, bien décorée, avec le plaisir de voir au travers des grandes baies vitrées le loch mais aussi les poules de la maison, deux canards et plein de pinsons des bois qui viennent picorer. Merci Tamsin pour votre accueil chaleureux (et les oeufs des poules ... !)"

"What a fabulously quirky and comfortable stay, in a fabulously quirky town! The owners have clearly poured a lot of love and care into this property that you feel the minute you walk in the door. A genuinely warm welcome with everything you could need for good nights sleep. Our family had a wonderful evening here and I wish to thank the owners for creating this magical home from home."
