Mount Royal Hotel Edinburgh by The Unlimited Collection

"Loved this hotel! The location was perfect for our adventure. Right across from the Scott monument, a few minutes walk from the Waverly bus stop and a few minutes from the Royal mile. We didn’t have any views personally, but the rooms were clean and exactly as advertised. Breakfast options were delicious. Would definitely recommend!"

"The castle was beautiful. We enjoyed it immensely, it was better than a museum. Lots of unique art objects. The bar looked so beautiful! The restaurant was awesome. Holly from Reception was very helpful and made our stay better. She got us packed breakfast as we had an early flight. The room was a bit smaller than I expected, but I loved the view."

"The restaurant next door was lovely for a quick bite. The room and hotel were great and a good location for our needs. The staff was excellent. The only thing we found that could have been better was our shower head was leaking sideways and was impossible to keep it from creating a tiny river on the bathroom floor. If you’re booking this location for a out of Edinburgh stay before a flight - make sure you factor in traffic / travel time that is sufficient to get through a morning rush hour & always prepare for some not so great rain conditions on the drive. There are also no convenient souvenir shops near this location if anyone is wondering; so if you wanted a last minute pick up - get it in the larger cities."

"The place is beautiful, and our room was very good. The biggest issue was that Uber or Bolt does not pick up there. And we had to ask the hotel to call a taxi, which was really expensive (3x Uber). From Edinburgh center, ~£20 Uber and £50 taxi. Or you can go to the nearest train station for ~£15. The other issue was that there is no phone coverage in the hotel and very weak connection outside."

"The staff at the Abbey are excellent, by far the best part about the stay. Very friendly with each encounter and extremely accommodating. We had several bags with us, and they made our check-in and check-out much easier by going out of their way to support. The room itself is satisfactory; it is about what you pay for. Nothing too extraordinary, but more than sufficient for what we needed it for. Although the bathroom wasn’t terribly well maintained, and the shower didn’t drain very well. Housekeeping was great; they came regularly and did a great job keeping the room to a high standing of cleanliness. The accommodation is also quite accessible to the city centre through both the 3 and the 29, which come quite frequently. Since there is no kitchen, having a Co-Op across the road is quite handy. Also close to some nice walking trails."

"We were coming in late, so I called ahead. The front desk was very accommodating even though we arrived after they were closed. They left our keys for us clearly marked. The room was wonderful and the bed was spacious. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. Our room had the old-style skeleton key so if you are not used to that it might be good to brush up on how to use it before you arrive. We've experienced that a few times in the UK so it was OK for us."

"A lovely little cottage, spotlessly clean and the owners Victor & Corina were so friendly, welcoming and helpful with anything we needed.Edinburgh city centre is only a 30 min drive. However, I would strongly recommend getting the train from Eskbank to Edinburgh Waverley (city centre). Eskbank is only a 10 min drive and the train journey is only about 25 mins and at 12 return for 2 adults is brilliant and easy."
