"This rental is a DUMP. The exterior is littered with garbage, old lawn furniture, broken playground equipment, discarded building materials and dead mice. The inside is camped, dark and dirty (our white socks were filthy two seconds after walking around the house). The village of Saxeten, however, is lovely. It is remote, peaceful and surrounded by gorgeous mountains. Many of the homes here are very tidy and well-kept, so this rental seems to be a blight to the community"

An absolute gem worth the drive!! Originally we thought we would be much (much) closer to Lucerne but we were pleasantly surprised with the town and LOVED the hotel. The bunk beds were great for the kids. The pool was so fun and the breakfast was GREAT. We got in late and the staff waited up for us which we were so grateful for as we got lost heading in from Interlaken. The town was stunning and had this lovely, peaceful atmosphere. We would make the drive again and strongly recommend this...

I liked the hotel itself and the location, however this was all self service property. When you get there, you have to use a machine to check in, there’s literally no human individual to welcome you in, not one soul. They didn’t offer clean service, at all. We stayed two nights, and though the hotel room was very nice and clean the breakfast sucked!! They only offer coffee, pastries, fruit, cheese and yogurt. I felt like blah… wouldn’t book here again. Absolutely recommend this hotel if staying in a Engelberg. The hotel was a great place to spend two nights in Engelberg and is located in the center of town, about a 3 minute walk from the train station and a 12 minute walk to the cable car up to Mount Titlis (free shuttle from the train station if preferred). My room had a lovely balcony complete with flowers and a great view. The staff at the front desk and at breakfast were both very friendly. I hope to get the chance to stay at this hotel...
