"The staff are very friendly and professional. The rooms are very nice and are surround by the castle walls. Each person is giving a small sample of Ginja (cherry wine) which was nice to learn about. We were not impressed with the restaurants within the castle walls, however the breakfast offered at the hotel was delicious! "

"You must park outside the walls. It was difficult finding out where to park since there are signs for the hotel. Breakfast was great. People nice. Quaint. "

"The wife and I were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. We felt that we were staying in a palace. The workers were dressed in attire from medieval times. The decor was of medieval times. They include a breakfast buffet fit for a king. The staff was extremely friendly. We arrived late in the evening and a gentleman went out to a nearby restaurant to ask if they could accommodate us as it was 1/2 hour before closing times. He came back and told us if we hurried over they would accommodate us. Well, I must say that was another pleasant surprise as the restaurant across the street was a five star dinning experience. They even let us keep our car in their private garage the morning of check out while we walked across the street to tour Obidos which is a must visit site when in Portugal and please try the wonderful tasting Ginginha drink as many stores offer tastings for a euro or so. "

"Very unique hotel"

"Our party of 10 were thrilled to stay in this pretty, super-clean and spacious property. We were humbly welcomed by the owner, Joao, who is a total gentleman and only wanted the best for our stay. Nothing was too much trouble to ask from him and his nephews. The property has wonderfully peaceful surroundings, a beautifully tended garden and veg plot (by the lovely & cherry Deolinda) and a good sized inviting pool. The kids enjoyed all the nooks and crannies to explore the sprawling landscape as well as the use of the pool toys/floats/noodles. Not forgetting the Dogs, Spike and Brownie - oh how they were doted on and cuddled, daily. They are kenneled and looked after by carers but you can release them if you are dog lovers. The kitchen has everything you could want for and is fully equipped. It was the heart of the home, for us. We made full use of that as we were entirely self catering although there are a couple of eateries in the local village as well as a little shop that has all the basics you might need including a butcher, fresh rolls and groceries. The rooms were cool and comfortable to sleep with the option of air con and/or extra blankets if you needed them. Towels are provided plus pool towels which helps reduce weight in your baggage. Plus. With the access to a washing machine, you can clean your clothes throughout your stay; again, reducing your packing of many clothes! Asked if we would choose this property again? ABSOLUTELY YES!"
