Never being to Catalina before, it was a little intimidating having to walk through a neighborhood outside the strip, but everything was so close it didn’t matter. The hill is steep if you have any walking difficulties and/or handicaps so a taxi is recommended if you cannot walk the hill to get to the hotel. "The hotel was great. Fairly clean and located away from the busy street. Don’t expect it to be any five star resort. It simple and dated with the needed essentials. The bathroom is super small so be warned. The hotel is on an upward street so walking and getting your luggage up there can be challenging."
