"The Hotel Ballena Ray is a gem. While the overall vibe is laid back, the rooms are perfect for a long stay with kitchenette and other basic amenities. "The location is perfect. We were a block from our whale watching tour, two blocks from the beach (parque nacional marina ballena), and there were some smaller but very good restaurants nearby. It was easy access to the highway as well. We enjoyed the pool and the shower and A/C worked well. It was very convenient for everything we came to do. Also recomment the restaurant La Boba La Ballena nearby."

"We absolutely loved out stay at Casa Honu Kai. It was so quiet, secluded, and only 6 minutes up the road from the main drag. We were fascinated with the wildlife we saw from the observation deck. Our adult children, who had been to Costa Rica before said, we saw everything that they'd seen in the nature park, and we did it while drinking our coffee! We enjoyed the pool daily and the house had everything we needed to be quite comfortable! Bring your binoculars and swimsuit! The ONLY reason I had a 3 stars for the check in process was because there was a problem with getting the gate open. I called the host, he contacted the management company and it was resolved right away and all was good. Both he and the mgmt company were VERY responsive at all times!"

"We loved this house! We had 3 kids and 5 adults, and everyone loved it! So so much wildlife -- monkeys, lizards, frogs, spiders, birds, coati mundi....The pool was so nice and everything was very clean! All the AC units worked great, the balcony was breathtaking and it was nice having a 2nd house/pool so everyone could have their own space. We had a few open afternoons and we opted to stay at the house because we loved it so much. You definitely need 4WD or AWD as there is a steep incline on a rocky road to get to the house. By the end of our stay, I enjoyed the drive to and from the house -- it was an adventure of it's own. There is a grocery store at the bottom of the hill that had everything we needed. It was about a 10-15 min drive to Whale's Tail beach and about 1 hour and 20 minute drive to Manuel Antonio."
