excellent hotel, whithin a coffee plantantion area. staff were very friendly and helpfull. food was excellent and breakfast was served outside with lake view.

The grounds/rooms are gorgeous, very accommodating staff and fabulous birding! The meals were outstanding.

Would highly recommend this place. The owners just couldn't be nicer or more helpful. The cabins are bright, comfortable, and clean. The location is convenient to the Mirador de Ujarras and the Ruinas de Ujarras as well as multiple good restaurants. The citrus trees on the grounds attract lots of interesting birds. We saw at least 35 species from our porch. Hanging out with their adorable, super friendly Doberman was a big bonus for us.

Staff is always friendly, room very clean and safe.

Excellent colonial-style building with incredible natural surroundings, but the hotel looks neglected. The room was nice and spacious, but the bathroom smelled awful, like a sewer. I had to buy bleach and use it, but it didn't get rid of the smell. There was a leak in the sink and mold between the tiles and under the sink. I had to report it at the front desk, and they only provided one towel under after inspection. Also, the rooms didn't have air conditioning, and with the mosquitos, we...

Very pleasant stay. Near center of Cartago, but far enough to be a quiet place to stay. Convenient restaurant next door serving good food.

The location was beautiful and peaceful. We would definitely stay here again. While we had some problems at checkout (they couldn't run a credit card because the staff at the desk "didn't know how"-- we had to pay in cash). I'm assuming this was an anomaly, as the rest of our stay was very enjoyable. Rooms are large and clean, although not air-conditioned, which was fine. Excellent food and caring staff. Can't beat the location and view.

What a terrific setting nestled in the mountains outside of Cartaga. The Tico style cabin had two bedrooms and a single bath with a great room containing the kitchen, dinning room and living room. I spent most of my time on the deck. Was clean and well maintained.

The staff at the Bougainvillea welcome and get to know each and every one of their guests. You feel like you are a guest in their own home. The rooms are clean and spacious with great views of the mountain or the garden - I had a tree top view of a flowering Margarita tree - sensational! The dining is good and the prices comparable to most restaurants. Don't expect a bargain as there are none in Costa Rica. Beautiful property with great customer service. Staff feel like family. Excursion team is excellent made our experience that much more wonderful. Drive was worth it. Would rate this place a 10/10. Thanks for a wonderful experience

Everyone was so friendly and helpful from desk to the cleaning staff. Service was impeccable. I love the restaurant. The food was excellent and the drinks were the best I’ve had. We went there two of three nights and I regret not being able to go our last night. I will definitely be back when I return to San Jose
