"Car parking requires an extra fee. Sound proofing is non existent as you can hear people talking in other rooms. Aircon is available but does not cool the room."

The Royal Lion Hotel

"We are so pleased we booked the Royal Lion! The location is excellent and you're right in the heart of Lyme Regis. The room we booked (deluxe double room with terrace) was excellent. Clean, welcoming and comfortable. There were extra touches like the selection of teas and coffees as well as biscuits and some cans of water. There was parking at the hotel too. Even though it is a fairly small car park, we always found a space. We ate at the restaurant every evening while we were there. An excellent selection of choices. Full marks! Breakfast was something to look forward to as well. A buffet breakfast as well as a large menu for a cooked breakfast. This was all included in the reasonable fixed breakfast price. All the staff from the minute we checked in were great. Sharon greeted us at reception and advised us about the restaurant and breakfast, as well as the parking. Sending a thank you to the friendly helpful staff in the restaurant and at breakfast, Tom and Abbie! Apologise for forgetting the other names of the staff we met. This is an excellent hotel and we would definitely recommend a stay here"

The Royal Ashton Town House

4/10 Poor

"For £94.50 a night this is a very basic hotel. Room and bed were large and clean, but very sparsely and cheaply furnished. There was a TV and 'fridge. Bathroom was very small, though clean. Amenities? I didn't notice any - no breakfast, no lounge or bar. The other clientele did not inspire one to expect a peaceful or indeed safe night's sleep; though in fairness I enjoyed quiet and restful nights. The hotel is well placed for Taunton station."

"We put out the sign on door for room cleaning when we left in the morning and on our return everything shipshape. The continental breakfast was exceptional and we liked the fact when we had finished eating we could move to the lounge end of the dining room to enjoy our coffee, thus freeing up a table for another breakfast guest. The staff were friendly and helpful across the board from reception, to dining room to the spa area. Our room didn't have a beach view [which we knew when we booked] but a lovely view of the sea from the breakfast room."
