The location is very remote so you need to know you’ll be driving for any restaurants , etc. The check in process was not good BUT that was an Expedia/VRBO issue because they sent incorrect lock box and code info. Our host Joyce worked to fix that for future guests. Room was large and comfortable. Bathroom was ok - not great water pressure. WiFi really didn’t work anywhere in the home. "We have been coming to Connemara for 34 years, and this house is in the perfect spot for us. Not only do you get gorgeous views over the tranquil Betraboy Bay, but on the other side of the bay you can see Roundstone and round to the east, the Twelve Pins mountain range. The house is impeccably designed so that all the communal living spaces are functional and spacious, while somehow managing to fit in five spacious bedrooms where you can be tucked away with some quiet and privacy. It really is a functional house for a large family gathering. The house has an abundance of options when it comes to different facilities, from washing machines and dryers to dishwashers and ways to dry out beach kit. There's plenty of garden space for kids to run around, has good Wi-Fi, everything you could ever hope for when booking a house for a week. On top of that, John and Mairead were incredibly helpful and courteous, quick to respond with any queries we had. They really made us feel at home. Some people in other reviews have mentioned that Glinsk is a remote area, and this is true. It's definitely as asset. This is why you can enjoy local beaches, walks and mountains without the hundreds of tourists that are now flocking to other parts of Ireland's coast. There are plenty of shops and coffee shops nearby - within a ten-minute drive you can get all the basics, but Clifden, just 30 minutes away, has all the big supermarkets where you can get everything you could ever need. Highly recommend."

Hawthorn Lodge

"Clean and quiet lodge great for anyone looking for a peaceful stay. A 10 minute walk into the town and a 20 minute bus ride to Connemara National Park which was absolutely stunning. The breakfast was quite good as well for a buffet style arrangement, able to have a full Irish if you so please as well as fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, and oatmeal. The staff were very accommodating as there were huge delays with the rails and a missed train the day we arrived and we didn't get in until after 8 pm with no problems."

"My husband and I stayed at Abbeyglen Castle for our five year wedding anniversary and had an amazing time! Ronan, one of the owners, was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. The property is beautiful and so well maintained, our room was wonderful, and both dinner and breakfast were excellent. Such a special place to celebrate, and we will absolutely be back again!"

"The gardens were incredible. Lots of paths . Very cozy place. Breakfasts were great! The room smelled damp and moldy. Rooms were large and nice except for smell. The bar was fun every night . Very cozy except for leather couches and chairs that you sank in (really sank in). We stayed 6 days with my family we had 4 rooms. The food was great! Except 90% fish dishes. We were not fish eaters. Last we stayed for the day but they do not serve lunch there."
