About this property
Stone Homestead Farmhouse
Featured in the October 2018 issue of Country Living Magazine: This Post WWII stone house was hand-hewn by its original owner who spent 10 years digging through the rocks on the property's quarry. Updated at the beginning of 2014, this working farm is within a half-day's journey to numerous Upper Cumberland attractions, trails, and waterfalls. If guests prefer access to the urban, a Nashville, Knoxville or Chattanooga trip is with an hour-half journey. Numerous golf courses are a stone's throw as well.

This has to be one of our top Vrbo’s we’ve ever stayed in!!
The house is out in the country with cows that graze close by the widows and back yard. The area the house is located is also very nice. The work and detail the owners put into making it so rustic was over the top! Our only complaint is we didn’t book a longer stay!
We stayed for two nights with our family of five plus one ridiculous dog, opting to get acquainted with the college town after the scheduled events on campus. It was so nice to have a place to come back and rest and make some of our meals which made it more comfortable and affordable than a couple of hotel rooms would have been. The host was very responsive. Listing is complete and informative, then the house manual answers all your other questions once you arrive. The home is rural so plan accordingly. We picked up groceries at Walmart 15 minutes away and next time I'll remember to include some cooking basics like salt, spices, and oil, but in general I found all the utensils and kitchen items I needed for some simple meals and snacks. Our three teenagers enjoyed their beds in the loft and we really took advantage of the fireplace on some very chilly evenings. Don't plan on leaving your pet at the house when you go out; I don't remember reading about that until we arrived which was fine, we adjusted. Glad we found this rustic little gem and will visit again next time we need a home base..
We absolutely loved staying here and we will definitely rent again! Such a cute home and well stocked. It’s was the most peaceful and relaxing trip thanks to the quiet neighborhood and beautiful town. I had a lovely bubble bath, we enjoyed a fire under starry skies, and morning coffee in the rockers on the porch! We kept the windows open to enjoy the fresh mountain air & I miss it so much.

Perfect getaway!
The farmhouse beyond exceeded our expectations! Amazing furnishings, fully equipped kitchen, and beautiful surroundings! Quiet and peaceful area with great star gazing at night. Close to tons of hikes, kayaking, and state parks! We will definitely be back! Our pups loved it too:)
My family loved our farm experience! My children loved being able to climb a ladder to get to their bedroom. Everything was so clean and the owner was super fast at responding to any questions I had. We also loved the farm dogs, Red and Duke! We felt very protected. It was a really cool experience.

Fantastic restored farmhouse!
My wife and I live in Florida but own a cabin in Tennesse. On a last minute plan we were traveling to our cabin when on a whim I decided to book this farmhouse. My wife thought I was nuts! When we arrived she thought I was a genius. This place is a restored farmhouse that will make you feel like you are back in history (but with all the modern amenities). The owners did a fantastic job at restoration and we loved hearing it's history. The house is on a working farm but everyone that passed us by were so friendly and cordial we felt like family. Another really cool feature is that you feel like your in the middle of rural life but the center of town is only a few minutes away. If you like the thought of living in the past in a stone and wood farmhouse but also have all the modern day conveniences this place is for you. We can't wait to go back!

Retreat, away from it all!
I came to Cookeville from Florida to find a place to live and to get to know the town and the area as I will be relocating with my job. When I first got there I was amazed, as beautiful as the pictures are on the site it doesn't do it justice. It is very peaceful and relaxing, away from it all. I had my 2 little Pomeranian dogs with me and we loved seeing all the cows and my favorite was the little blonde horse and a donkey that were always together and playing. :-) At night it is very dark and great for gazing at the stars and so many fire flies/lightening bugs it looked like a light show. The ground looked like it had twinkling christmas lights. The people in town are very friendly and helpful.
I have already recommended this farm house to family and friends. What a great place to stay. The owners are very nice and make you feel welcome into their amazing retreat getaway Farmhouse, thank you very much :-)

Romantic Birthday Getaway
This was such a great spot! My wife and I really loved the chance to get away from Nashville without having to drive far. The style of the house was amazing, one of the most creative renovations we've seen with all the right touches. We love older homes with character and this was the perfect place for us to unwind.
We found the space very cozy and spent the whole weekend on the property picking vegetables from the garden, watching for frogs at the pond, and walking back to see the cows and Sampson the horse. We made a fire in the fire pit, cooked all of our meals in the kitchen and had plenty of space to just sit and read a book, inside and out.
The owners were very easy to work with and were very willing and quick to respond to our questions. We did have to bring a few cooking items of our own, but this was mostly because of our preferences and they were honest about what they had. They even hooked up an extra freezer for us to use!
We were told that the house is on a working farm and that it wasn't uncommon for the family to be seen driving up and down the driveway. This was true, as trucks came and went several times throughout the weekend. It was a bit more activity than we expected, but everyone was very friendly and respected our privacy!
Overall, we would DEFINITELY recommend this place and hope to make it back in the winter sometime!
We had an outstanding visit. Nice quiet location in farm country. Accommodations were great and the farmhouse had everything you possibly imagine. We are thinking of a return visit in the near future.
This was our first farm stay, and it was fun! I felt right at home since I grew up in the country. We all enjoyed the cows, the dog, and--most of all--the frogs in the pond! It was nice and quiet but not a bad drive into town for lots of food options. The house itself is super cute. The beds and bedding were very comfortable. Lots of room upstairs for the kids to hang out. Great old trees and a porch swing. Internet was spotty at times but that comes with the territory. We'd definitely recommend and would stay again!
Quaint little place in the country. Close enough to stores and interstate. Loved the peace and quiet. Red, the dog, is awesome. Definitely a great way to unplug and relax.
This property is perfect. The setting is wonderful and the home is great. The kitchen had everything we needed. It was fairly cold when we visited and the house stayed warm. The home even came with a cute dog that liked to hangout. I would highly recommend this property.
We absolutely loved this stunning property. The house is perfectly decorated and welcoming. The setting is blissfully quiet and beautiful. We were so happy to have a few days of respite and hope to return someday!
