"Our bedroom no 15 was next to the lift and we were woken early morning and at night on the two nights we stayed when people used the lift with mind the doors message on several occasions. We used restaurant on first night but the menu was limited and to make it worse several of the options were not available so we went out to eat on 2nd night. The staff were excellent and apologetic about the being woken by the lift and lack of menu choice. "

"The spa facilities were poor dirty showers , ran. Out of towels had to walk all the way to reception to pick one up , couldn’t get in the jacuzzi as full of children the steam room was cold I had just finished work and was looking forward to a lovely relaxing time , went to have a shower and guess what no shower gell in the dispensers overall very disappointed , the room we stopped in was ok it was at least clean ."

"The George as a building is full of character, but what really makes it an excellent stay is the quality of the staff. Such a friendly welcome, and superb service for breakfast and dinner meant that we felt very much at home. I recommend the George to anyone staying in the area."

"Room was okay. Temperature control was ineffective in that it didn’t matter what temperature is was put too it just billowed out cold air, even when set to 26 degrees."

"Excellent dog friendly hotel. The hotel is next to a busy road so highly recommend booking a lakeside room which are much quieter, large and have a good view. Whilst the hotel is quite tired, for the price we paid and service we received, it represents good value. Meals in the bar well priced too. "

"Staff were attentive and polite. Room was a bit too hot for sleeping. Breakfast was excellent quality but the high end restaurant was expensive for the quality of food. Also only had 3 options for children which was not great. Swimming area was lovely. "

"Room was good. Aircon kept it at an acceptable temp (hotel was otherwise on the warm side). Sadly the food let it down. Both of the breakfasts I had were cold. The evening meal (function meal) was also cold. Staff were generally very good, but were let down by breakfast staff on the second day - had to ask twice for poached eggs. A lovely traditional hotel, let down by things which should be very easy to fix. I would return. "
