"The cottage is comfortable, cool (strong A/C) and private, well-suite for a couple. The Internet works well but TV channel availability is mediocre at best. Platform overlooking Lake Champlain is a big plus particularly for relaxing and reading a book or having a drink. Gas grille is easy to use, particularly useful given that the kitchen lacks a standard oven. The owner provides a double kayak that can be launched from the private beach, along with life jackets and paddles. (We didn't swim but...

"This property is in a beautiful location with lakefront view and its own dock, which we used. The house and its furnishings were rustic but we were comfortable. No AC but the nights were cool enough that it was comfortable to sleep. A few things need repairing like the back slider door handle."

"Cathy was very responsive to inquiries regarding what to do/where to go although everything was provided in binder for visitors left on table! Place was very clean, extra blankets/necessities although lots of gnats in kitchen area. Beautiful patio w/ stream running across backyard, very relaxing! Didn't realize house was just feet from a very busy main road, kids had to be careful. Everything was within a few minutes away! "Arrived around 5 on Saturday. Great location. Once I figured out how to open key holder, we moved in. We enjoyed our cabin, found the information folders helpful. We had a nice fire and enjoyed our stay. Our suggestions for improvement. The light in the main room was very bright. A dimmer light switch would have been appreciated. Would like to have had a reading light on both sides of the bed."

"We had a great week at Birchwood Cottages!! The cottage itself was clean and tidy. We enjoyed the kayaks, SUP boards, beach toys, etc that they have available for everyone to use. We were there during a major storm, and lost power. We immediately were checked on and assured that the generator was on so we would at least have water. Hosts were quick to respond to any questions we had. My youngest is already asking for us to book for next summer."

"If you are good with an authentic rustic environment- complete with small rodent catch and release trap under the stairs, a little water coming in the bedroom ceiling when it rains, bugs galore, and supplying your own drinking water— then OK. Everyone else consider yourselves forewarned. There has been absolutely no maintenance done on this property in decades. The local staff are wonderful."

"The property is in a prime location on Lake Champlain. We brought our own kayaks and access to the lake was easy. The house was stocked with everything we would need and the hosts were very attentive. Helpful Info was provided on activities and shopping in the area. One suggestion for future guests is to bring reading lights, since lighting in common areas was rather dim. "

"House is cute with a nice view. If you want to take advantage of the lake, bring paddle boards or other water sport toys. Unfortunately the house was not thoroughly clean. Upon walking in we found dog hair on the stairs and on two of the beds. The shower curtain liners were yellowed and filthy. A good housecleaner and a few bucks at Walmart can easily fix these things and would make a world of difference. Overall a good experience."
