"This is a magical, peaceful place with many species of birds in beautiful grounds. The staff are all so professional, courteous & helpful. "This place is an underappreciated gem. It lies on the banks of the Rio San Carlos with 24 individual cabins. The rooms are very spacious and nicely appointed. While the pictures show the cabins overlooking the river only around four or five of them actually do that. I spent three nights here in August, 2018. The property lies only 11 kilometers from the border with Nicaragua. This area is remote and very hot and humid and the cabins are not air conditioned but have a ceiling fan and a powerful...

"The house and grounds are beautiful. Pictures don’t do it justice. It’s gorgeous looking over the lake. Pool was fantastic. Bedrooms and bathrooms are great. Check in easy and there was even a welcome basket with fruit. Would stay again. The only thing people need to know is that it is 45 min to La Fortuna even though it looks closer on the map. This didn’t bother us but if you are expecting to just pop in and out of town you need to plan accordingly from a time perspective."

Nice cabin, not in La Fortuna itself...
"The cabin was in a pretty location on the side of a small lake — but the location doesn't match that on VRBO which states it's in La Fortuna town. It's actually several miles out of town, which was a problem for us since we didn't have a rental car and there's no public transport serving the area. The owner offered us a lift into La Fortuna on our first day, but beyond that we had to keep booking Ubers which also were quite unreliable. The cabin was nice but could do with a bit of upkeep — there were a lot of ants/termites that appeared in our kitchen and a bad smell came up through the drain in the bathroom. It's also worth noting that despite the tranquil pictures the property is next to a busy road and you can hear the traffic throughout the night."
