We had a wonderful time in Santiago, partially due to our accommodations. The location is most convenient to attractions as well as the metro should you want to navigate the city. The homemade breads each morning were scrumptious and the overall selection was extensive. The beds were comfy and the rooms were stylish. The staff speaks English which was a huge help when planning the days activities. I highly recommend this boutique hotel!!

The hotel is one of only a few high-end hotels serving tourists to the Atacama Desert. The desert is an enormous attraction, uniquely beautiful, large and various. The hotel offers many excursions to different spots in and near the desert, at different times of the day (sunrise, sunset) and requiring different levels of physical exertion. Entering this home late at night we were shocked at what a wonderful home we had rented, beautifully furnished and with great kitchen and facilities. The artwork was impressive. The Bedroom Suite was very large with both a comfortable bed and living area. It had a balcony upon which we enjoyed pisco sours while taking in the ocean views. Love the new addition of the game room next to the pool. Staff are super friendly and helpful. We were efficiently helped with dinner reservations and changes to our ski excursion. We also love the extras - a bottle of wine and a sandwich this time, but it’s litterally the luck of your draw. Last time we received free buffet breakfast and wine. A great place to stay. This place is beautiful! We weren't sure what to do when we arrived at the front gate, but someone came out to let us in and get us all checked in. Our cabin was absolutely gorgeous, complete with a wood stove, Chilean toaster :), and a back deck with a view of the lake. There was a stairway down to the shoreline from the deck. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful - it's lovely having a person on-site that is knowledgeable and able to book all regional tours on your behalf - the property and rooms have stunning views (and are evidently pretty new) and the hot tubs are a definite bonus. The menu changes every day, all delicious. We stayed 3 nights, we wish we could have stayed at least a week! Ps. The Termas del Sol nearby are well worth a visit!

The Hostal Rio Amazonas is very centrally-located and walking distance to the Barrio Bellavista (neighborhood) with many restaurants and activities as well as to Metro Lines 1 and 5 (Baquedano station) which connect to most of Santiago. Situated on an unremarkable street, Hotel Boutique Matildas stands out as a beautifully renovated and architecturally important reminder of an elegant and bygone era. For my wife and I, it was great to see wonderfully carved wooden banisters, ultra high ceilings having intricate crown moldings. The staff was professional and friendly, and even consulted me with excursions. The breakfast was relatively generous. The place is really close to the main street so there are a lot of restaurants, bars and places to go out nearby.

She went out of her way to be helpful.
