In April 2001, Egyptian archaeologists uncovered 22 mummies in Bahariya, some 350 kilometres from Cairo. They date from the 6th century BC and were neatly divided into two tombs.
Shortly afterwards, during a journey through the White Desert, I was given the exceptional opportunity to descend with an Egyptian friend in one of the tombs. There I found this untouched sarcophagus of a mother with the mummy of her child on top of her.

"Best View Pyramids is an excellent hotel in Cairo. It has a prime location, with a rooftop terrace with direct views of the pyramids. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable, and clean, making your stay very pleasant. The breakfasts are delicious and varied.
