"Overall the hotel was really nice, and they have fantastic views, either over the large pond or over the canal over breakfast. It was in need of a little TLC especially in our bedroom. We did find the buffet a bit disappointing as it was cold and appeared to have been there since first thing (we were there an hour after service started). We also found one or two flies in the bedroom and the restaurant. However the staff were very friendly and helpful, and despite our minor issues, we would return."

"Having stayed at the Riverside many times pre-Covid, we were delighted to see the changes that had been made over the last 5 years. The new decor is a vast improvement and very tasteful, in our opinion. The room we had, albeit relatively small was fine and it was nice to have the air-conditioning, as it was a very warm night. The menu was adequate with a reasonable choice; unfortunately we had to leave before trying breakfast. All the staff were lovely, especially the lady who had just started that day (Colette?). We will definitely be going back next month, when we return to Burton. It is a testament to this new regime that the bar, terrace and restaurant were busy with all manner of people, including paddle boarders. Again a vast improvement of 5 years ago. Well done, Adam and his team. PS thanks for the chocolates on the bed."

"Room was clean and a buff breakfast was included. I booked because it was dog friendly but when checking in was told this was an additional charge of £35 which I was shocked as way more than £10-£15 of every other hotel I’ve ever used. Fortunately the member of staff waived the fee on this occasion but something to bear in mind if you’re travelling with a pet."
