"Breakfast had waffles, eggs, sausage, etc. No issues with the bed, as we have "temperamental" backs. Room very clean. It was very nice to see a TV listing guide in the room."

"This is a fun 1800s feel space. Lots of room. The location is great as it is on Main St. so you can walk to coffee, shopping and is across from a fun Tiki Bar right on the river. The train tracks are across the street as well so if you are a train buff, it adds to the appeal. Hosts were very responsive ,helpful and kind. It’s close to other fun places in the area as well. The second bedroom has a cut sink and mirror which helps as there is only one bathroom - but that bathroom is beautiful with a footed tub and a separate rain shower. Lots of character in this first floor unit and made for a great weekend!"

"This was a beautiful location and a great house full of period pieces yet very livable. The beds were very comfortable and McGregor is a gem. We had a wonderful time and definitely want to return. The host was quick with replies to all my questions and the stay was amazing."

"The American House is vintage in all the best ways. There is so much cool history associated with it and that is very visible in the suite, but it has all of the modern amenities you’d ever want or need. The place is huge and easily slept our family of 5. The train tracks are right in front of the building, and the trains go by quite often. They don’t last long, and Sara has generously provided ear plugs for those who might need them to sleep. No one in our group ended up needing them. The location is spectacular! It is located right in the heart of McGregor, which is an adorable river town. Check out Paper Moon as soon as you can upon arrival…it is one of the coolest stores around. For anything you can’t find in McGregor, Prairie du Chien is less than 10 minutes away and is a nice town."

"We’ve stayed here previously and the dart board & barrel table/stools in front porch were a great addition! Beds are comfortable with plenty of blankets & pillows provided! We did learn from previous that we need bring a room fan at night to drown out the sound of train few blocks away…it was just enough for me as a light sleeper!"
