The room was very clean and the hotel location is in a peaceful forest 15 minutes walk to McLeod Ganj where the Dalai Lama lives and the main square. The food at breakfast was excellent and you can ask for things like bananas that were not on the table. The staff were attentive. Our laundry service was excellent as well.

Don't let the name fool you. This could easily be a Vivanta, Taj or Hyatt. It is run like a 4 star property.
The staff have an incredible "can do" attitude for even the most challenging requests.
I was very impressed as a westerner - especially as Best Westerns are not exactly 4stars in the US.
Super plus points on the shower which was never ending hot with exceptional pressure. Amenities, views and rooftop terrace sets this property apart from everything in Mcleod Ganj

We had a wonderful stay at Echor Tree Mandara Village. The hotel was beautiful, very clean, great location and kind staff. Rooms were very comfortable and spacious, and the restaurant was delicious. Stayed at this hotel on Temple Road, McLeod Ganj in January end 2026 and honestly had a very nice experience. Food was really good. The balcony view was amazing — you can see Dharamshala and snow-covered mountains, which felt super peaceful.
The place is calm and quiet but still very close to the main square and Dalai Lama Temple, so location is perfect.

The folks at the New Serkong House provided us with a warm welcome and peaceful stay before and after our 10 days at Tushita Meditation Center. We were grateful for their hospitality and appreciated their assistance and advice.
We especially enjoyed having a beverage on their cafe’s open balcony overlooking the valley as eagles soared by and the sun set over the mountains.

The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is really good and conveniently located. The location is ideal. An d there is a yoga school on site with daily classes. The spa is also on site and offers outstanding massages. It should be noted, however, that there is some construction happening on site and there are some guests that keep very late hours and can create a disturbance for those sleeping. Overall an excellent experience and I will return.
