Statue of a young George Washington Carver located on the property he was born into slavery on. He would leave here in 1875 at age 11 to attend a 'colored' school. His thirst for education would continue throughout his life leading him to a teaching job at the Tuskegee institute. It's an inspirational story that is well documented and explained at this National Monument.

"My husband and I stayed here for our 12 year wedding anniversary! The property is beautiful, the creek is breath-taking! Our stay was so quiet and relaxing. We stayed in the BlueJean Cabin. The cabins are super clean and cozy! It has a nice large porch to relax on. The beds were like sleeping on a cloud :) The shower was huge and very roomy! Everything was perfect!
