"Lamangata is a first class resort, with the highlights being the healthy delicious food, kind and attentive staff, luxurious room and extraordinary views. If you are a beginner or intermediate surfer, Lamangata is an excellent choice. I am a low intermediate level surfer and received helpful instruction. My wife is not a surfer, but enjoyed the hotel’s other offering such as yoga, pool and hiking. Initially, we were not sure if we would like the family style dining arrangement, but ended up...

Top Eco Chontales Waterfall Hotel Reviews

A Jungle Villa, 5-8 BR, full staff, Toucans, Mountains and Emerald Canyon access

10/10 Excellent

"What a relaxing, peaceful, yet adventurous time we had. Four of us (one couple and two singles) spent three nights in this luxurious "villa," which is a tropical, open-air mansion on a hillside in the jungle. We had our own large and very clean rooms to choose from with several others to spare. During the day, we hiked to two different waterfalls near the villa (the adventure part!), and at night, we enjoyed the serenity of the hot tub and swimming pool. We were lulled to sleep by frogs and awakened by birds and a couple howler monkeys in the distance. Also mention-worthy was the delicious and hearty Costa Rican-style breakfast made by a staff member in the villa's kitchen. We had full access to the kitchen during our stay, and we made our own lunches and dinners. The on-site caretaker and the remote host were always available and quick to answer any questions we had. This was the vacation we needed, and we were so lucky we chose the perfect place to stay."

Lamangata Luxury Surf Resort - All Inclusive

10/10 Excellent

"Lamangata was one of the best stays I've ever had. The property sits high in the hills above the jungle with views all the way to the ocean, and the infinity pool looking out over the valley is unreal, especially at sunrise and sunset. The team plans everything for you. Each morning a hand-drawn chalkboard lists the tide times, meals and the day's activities, so all we had to do was show up. Our surf instructor started us off in the pool before taking us out in the ocean, which made learning feel easy and safe. They also set up a zipline and a trip to the Nauyaca waterfalls, and the transport ran right on time. The food was a highlight: fresh, colorful and made from scratch every day. Avocado toast, tacos, poke bowls, shrimp ceviche, BBQ ribs. Everything was delicious. The rooms are beautiful, with warm wood, stone sinks, soft lighting and a walk-in shower, and they were spotless. The common areas feel open and calm. What really set it apart was the staff. They were warm and attentive and made us feel like family. On our last day they gave us printed photos from the trip with a thank-you note, a touch we'll never forget. I can't recommend it enough and can't wait to come back."

Casa Sea Breeze- Luxury OceanView Estate+50' Infinity Pool on 100 Acres

10/10 Excellent

"EXCELLENT!!! This place was a dream come true. The pool was Huge, very deep and swimable and really warm. We went with 6 adults and 5 kids and had the time of our lives. Watching the monkeys play on the roofs was something we will never forget. All the toucans and so many other birds flying overhead during the day made it so interesting and the Owls watching us swim at night in a nearby tree was a real treat to listen too. Spotting all the different wildlife on the property was so cool, we saw deer, lizards, huge frogs, a huge snake in the tree and other smaller mammals that made the drive too and from the villa very fun and enjoyable. The place was Very clean, maintained and well supplied. No complaints at all. You definitely need a four wheel drive to get back to the villa. But Soooo worth it!!!!"

3 Suites-Amazing Views-Private pool-Near Dominical-Luxury-Wildlife-Enjoy!

10/10 Excellent

"This house is amazing! This was our 4th trip to Costa Rica as a family and we have stayed in many VRBO's over the years. This was hands down our favorite. While the house is up a dirt road, it is a road in good condition for Costa Rica and we never even used our 4 WD. The layout, the pool, the amenities, the kitchen, everything was great. We had a couple little issues that happened during off hours for the hosting company, they responded very quickly and I would rate their communication at 5 stars. We did however, have to do the fixes ourselves, but luckily they were small. We saw a few toucans and a couple of agouti's but that was the extent of the wildlife. The view from the many outdoor areas is amazing and includes a beautiful view of the ocean. This home is in fantastic condition. We loved the many cooking appliances and utensils. Very well stocked for cooking at home. The hosting company does a stellar job with the cleaning, I am very particular and I had 0 issues with their cleaning. My only real constructive criticism is that the beds are a bit firm and the pillows really soft. We have found however, that this is typical for the area. I guess in the US we like to sleep a bit softer.I would absolutely book this home again."

Villa Montemar - Mountain and Ocean Views + Infinity Pool

10/10 Excellent

"My stay at Villa Montemar was nothing short of amazing. The entire house was spotless from top to bottom, but also extremely comfortable. The upstairs terrace was a great place to catch the sunset. As a digital nomad who is always traveling, this is my favorite place I’ve stayed at. The WiFi was very strong and reliable, and I enjoyed having a proper desk to work from. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped with state of the art cookware. I loved being able to look out to the ocean while cooking. The hosts and concierge also provided insight of what to do in the area, including hikes, yoga, and more. Lastly, what I loved the most was how open the house is. Being up in the mountains, there is constantly a fresh breeze and I was able to keep the windows open all the time and listen to the sounds of nature - from the bird calls to even the waves crashing late at night. Don’t hesitate to book this place - you won’t regret it! "

Jungle Estate w/ 2 Infinity Pools & Ocean Views • Sleeps 12

10/10 Excellent

"We had a great stay in Dominical! The house was clean and spacious, as pictured. There is a long, steep drive but you will be rewarded with an amazing view and lots of birds and wildlife. Host Kerri recommended Chef Kevin, who was incredible, and a great guide at Manuel Antonio. The house was perfect for two families to share. We will return! "

Casa Montaña - 5 Bedroom Ocean View Villa with Private Pool near Dominical.

10/10 Excellent

"Casa Montana is a gem! We stayed there for 8 nights and it is such a beautiful house! We were a family of 4, 2 elderly parents. Since we have been to CR previously, we knew what to expect (driving up an unpaved mountain road in a 4x4). Once we got to the house, the view is breathtaking! You can’t describe it & pictures don’t do it justice! The house is well thought out & well maintained, kitchen is well stocked and the pool is amazing - if you don’t want to leave the house, you don’t have to! The patio is set-up with a grill, sink and fridge (which is so wonderful for when you want to grill).Everyday, toucans were around the house and we even had macaws flying. It was great to see all the butterflies and wildlife around the gardens & house.Alex is a great help with whatever you need and is a great resource. He was very helpful while we stayed there. We went to Uvita beach, Hermosa beach, Dominicalito & Dominical beach (where we were able to ride the waves). We did a cocoa tour in Playa Hermosa which was the best cocoa tour we ever had. We also took the truck tour to get to Nauyaca waterfall. Another day, we went to the Uvita waterfall-a favorite spot for us. We went to an Eco Termales (about 40min away from the house) on someone’s property and it was great. But after every activity, we looked forward to return back to the house, relax, enjoy the pool and the views. It is such paradise & we can’t wait to return and stay at beautiful Casa Montana!"
