"The place was fantastic and quaint! A nice drive up the mountain from monchique, the property manager was fantastic. She took her time to walk us through the property and show us around. It was the exact quiet get away we needed, with beautiful restaurants within 3-10 minutes away. The driveway in is definitely narrow, we had a 9 seater van, so we opted to park atop the driveway as the house is at the bottom of a hairpin turn after a steep hill.Other things to note is the house is built into the side of a mountain and is definitely old. Take care when cleaning after cooking. At no fault of the hosts, considering the style of dwelling there were some ants. But it really wasn’t a bother. Simply comes down to personal cleanliness! Netflix or prime did not work on the tv as it is a bit out dated, there were some English channels that had movies on but again it won’t reflect my review as the reality is our time was mostly spent exploring the region. I would book this accommodation again "

"Rooms are spacious and clean, service throughout our stay was excellent. Great breakfast - lots of choice and all very fresh. We always enjoy our stay here, this time we had a bit more time to enjoy the pool and pool bar - really lovely facility and very relaxing. "

"Fantastic stay. Very private and quiet villa overlooking fabulous views. Very well equipped property, honestly can’t fault it.Great communication throughout.Worth paying the add on for the hot tub then sit and watch the stars at night, then get up early for the fantastic sun rises. Highly recommended. "

"We loved our stay here. Our family of 5 visited in the heat of August and made great use of the local pool and some smaller ones in surrounding villages. We loved wandering through the old passages and stairways, the town is just so full of character! Air conditioning was a godsend on a couple of hot evenings, the beds are comfortable and we all slept really well (although the endless barking of a neighbour's dog was a little irritating ). The kitchen is small and cleverly laid out with a lot stored high and accessed by steps. A cheese grater would have been welcome and pot pourri in the salad bowl was pretty but meant we couldn't actually use it. The kids were thrilled to have TV with Disney channel! There is a laundromat at Intermarché. We would have loved some guidance on waste segregation - we separated our recycling and left it, hoping for the best, but after having checked out I spotted municipal recycling, and even community compost (near the pool, actually!) which we would have gladly used. In all, I can imagine Casa Sofia would be a great place to visit anytime of year and I hope we can visit again some day."

"We stayed at this villa for a week July 2025- 2 adults and 2 teens. Booking experience was great and Nigel sent lots of helpful info. What an amazing property. The view from the garden and infinity pool alone was worth the booking. All set in a beautiful cork oak forest. The roads to the property are windy and steep - but the cooler mountain breeze and stunning scenery are worth it. The villa has everything you need - comfy beds, pool towels, decent sized fridge freezer, outdoor furniture inc sun loungers, off-road parking.The nearby supermarket is well stocked.We did a few trips - a boat trip to see the Benagil Caves and dolphins, a beach trip to Praia de Odeceixe, a water park trip and a zoo trip, All good- and then lovely to get back to our quiet haven. We enjoyed some night swims with the pool lights on, gecko spotting and using the BBQ. The gardens are beautiful. Air con a bonus"

"We had an unforgettable stay at Casa Ginjeira. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the charm, beauty, and thoughtful design of the home. Every room is tastefully decorated, full of character, and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay.The surrounding terraced gardens were enchanting, filled with blooming flowers, citrus and other fruit trees, the scent of rosemary and jasmine in the air, and little fountains, sculptures, and benches waiting to be discovered. We took daily walks and spent time unwinding in the garden, which quickly became one of our favorite parts of the stay.The pool was absolutely wonderful as well. Both Edmund, the owner, and Eulalia, the property manager, were warm, responsive, and welcoming throughout our time there.Thank you for sharing this gem of a home with us. We hope to return one day!"
