Farmstay in Gifu Prefecture

An absolutely magical experience, Yatusankan blew me away with the level of service and the beauty of the property. It was like staying in a museum--my wide and i remarked several times how much it felt like being inside the movie Spirited Away. Staying here was a special highlight of our trip and I hope to come back

The hotel is conveniently located near the train station, making it easy to get around. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic and exceeded my expectations. Overall, I had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back!

If is a charming traditional Japanese inn in Takayama. It’s location is very convenient for walking to the train station and the main tourist area, but it is situated on a quiet side street. The staff was very friendly. The Japanese breakfast was excellent. We were given kimonos to wear. A very authentic experience.

We had a nice one-night stay here. Bedrooms were much bigger than anticipated and we were able to utilize the washer/dryer which was a plus. Very close to the train station.

Miyama Ouan offers an authentic Japanese cultural experience in beautiful high country/alpine location. Meals were of a variety of ingredients, delicious and always beautifully presented. Miyama Ouan rooms are very comfortable, warm, beautifully cleaned, with private and public onsen. The Hirayu location is in close proximity for bush walking, sight seeing, and to the cable car and bear ranch.

On a recent family trip to Japan, we stopped in Gifu to see the cormorant fishing (a fascinating and enjoyable experience), and had the good fortune to spend a night at the Juhachiro. It was a fantastic experience. The location was great -- an easy bus ride from the train station, right at the dock where the fishing and spectator boats leave from, in an area of town with a number of interesting traditional shops and restaurants. Great location, friendly staff and very large room

Special design vibe was the attraction for our party. Need to reserve breakfast the day before, so plan ahead. All in all a nice unique alternative in Takayama, part Japanese, part Western.

Very convenient location, next to bus station and old town Takayama

Love these properties. They all are the same so you know what you get. The beds are soooo comfy! There is good coffee, tea, and miso soup packet 24 hours a day. It was extremely clean. My only thing I didnt like is they lock the AC at 23 and it was so warm i couldn’t sleep. The next day they unlocked it for me and i slept perfectly. Staff was very polite. Wifi worked well, shower pressure was great. They also have breakfast set deals at a nearby restaurant , but i saw it too late to use it.

The spa was excellent. I love how this hotel is designed with natural wood and minimalist intent. Great staff service as well.

Ryokan Sansui is a peaceful retreat with beautiful mountain views, private outdoor onsen rooms, and the most dedicated, attentive and kind staff. We felt completely pampered by their service and hospitality. The meals were traditional omekase using local and seasonal ingredients. The food is clearly made with love, pride, and care. Nice and efficient hotel in excellent location near train station and old town. Excellent breakfast. Helpful staff fairly fluent in English. Gets large group tours so common areas can get very busy at times.
