About 20 minutes drive outside of Gubbio and up a mountain, the Castello provides a unique hotel stay. Our room was in a building inside the walls. It was quite large with a very roomy bathroom with both large tub and separate shower. Beams, stone walls and wooden shutters contributed to the castle atmosphere. I would say this, probably has the best air-conditioning in all of Umbria! Extremely clean, moderately comfortable with a very nice breakfast. Above all, the staff were as charming as Umbria itself.

This place is a must stay if you are in Gubbio. The facilities are fantastic, the owners and staff are terrific. Our room was beautiful, clean and quiet. The view from the room was amazing. Our dinner in the piazza in front of the hotel was wonderful as well.

Gorgeous location looking high over the countryside of Gubbio. The on site restaurant was delicious. Loved the shaved truffles and cream sauce pasta. The pool also provided a nice refreshing dip after the heat of walking around Gubbio (though the required disposable swimming cap was a bit odd).

The hotel is beautiful and well cared for. The staff is warm and very helpful. Another highlight is the wonderful breakfast in a gorgeous space. We had a lovely stay!

Dina and Luca are super friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for me because I had a rental car and did not want to drive in the center. The location is less than a ten minute walk to the center, and has free parking across the street. Five minute drive to the supermarket, and five minutes off the autostrada. Highly recommended!

Booked last minute on our trip to Assisi not really knowing about this gem, but turned out to be the best! Very friendly staff. The location is just the best if your planing a trip to Assisi. The views are amazing and your not far from the basílica of st francis and Maria degli angeli. The best !

Absolutely breathtaking!!! The rooms, the view the service and the location. WOW!! And Salvatore is an absolute gem. We were unsure of how to get there and so he told us to call him when we were nearing the hotel and he stayed with me on the phone and guided our every turn. He waited for us outside so we wouldn’t miss it. Talk about outstanding service. Every room is so charming and tastefully decorated and has the most beautiful views. And just a short and beautiful walk to get to the center....

Beautiful, seculded hilltop estate with great view and beautiful grounds. Nice pool. Hosts were warm and inviting and dinner of regional cuisine was good. Rooms are large and relatively sparse with minimal amenities, and beware there is no A/C. Breakfast was simple. They produce award winning olive oil available for purchase.
