"Receptionist last night was incompetent and appalling. At 10pm at night, 5 minutes after I had arrived in my room and was settling in, he knocked on my door and suggested that I should move to another room “because of an issue” with the room I was in. I reluctantly agreed, and he moved me to another room a few doors down. “It even has a bath” he said excitedly. When I expressed reservations and said that I really preferred a shower, like I had in the previous room, he stated that I would have to return to reception with him so he could look to see else what he could find (not such a short distance, and with my overnight bag). Back at reception, he suggested that he could put me in a ground floor “if I would mind that”. He sounded negative about the room, so I asked if it would be noisy. He said that it wouldn’t, but I might want to take a look. I asked, why - would it be any different to the original room? At this point, he confessed the room wasn’t as nice - and then suggested that I should return to my original room, but he would put a message on the system for his colleague. I have no idea what all this was about, but it was all extremely weird and reminded me of something out of Fawlty Towers. Suffice to say, I didn’t feel particularly safe in the room and had a terrible night’s sleep (it was also too hot). I will not be returning."
