"Lovely hôtel - perfect for Lake Windermere. Facilities in the hotel are great: there are even wellingtons you can borrow to do a woodland walk. The restaurant is fantastic with high quality food. The lounge and reception area have wonderful open fires which make it feel really cosy. Our feature room was fantastic and roomy."

"I liked the location best. It is easy to access and centrally located in town; very walkable. The staff is very attentive and willing to help. Breakfast and other food options are excellent. Parking is not on-site and closest is a paid lot one hundred meters from the inn. Our room was directly above the street and entrance to the inn, so it was a bit noisy. Overall, I recommend Temperance Inn."

"Nice staff. We were walking the Pennine Way and got there at about 6.20pm. Were told last orders for food was 7pm so mad rush to get in a fit state to eat! Food was very nice. Rooms nice. Would recommend. "

The staff were friendly and very helpful, the room was everything it should be, the atmosphere was pleasant and quiet, and the evening meal I had was very good - I particularly appreciated that everything arrived in a very timely way despite two quite large parties being catered for at the time (all credit to the staff that evening). One of the best stays I've had in quite a while. "

Post services was amazing as I lost my headphones, and they were able to find it and offered to send it via post. I would absolutely recommend this place."

"The room and bathroom was stark and held only the basic necessities. No facial tissues. No decorations to make it feel cozy. Food and service were good. Owners friendly and inviting. Parking very limited but that was the whole area. "
