"The entrance to the hotel left us a bit nervous about our booking choice, but once we were inside we were warmly welcomed by Peter who offered us Prosecco while he walked us through check in and gave us helpful information about the property. Thank you Peter! The property is beautiful, and part of a monastery complex with extensive grounds which include vineyards, restaurants and beer gardens. You have the best view over the city and the river! There are bakeries and coffee shops right next door...

"I searched for ages for a decent hotel at a fair price with good reviews. As so many others had questionable reviews, i thought the Golden Star might be too good to be true, but in fact it was perfect, a standard room with a great view over the square and the city beyond, large bright period windows, and lovely touches like real keys (!) as well as a good sized fridge, a safe, and all mod cons. And surrounded by the beautiful buildings and parks of the castle’s historical centre. The tram stop...

"I loved the quietness and location of the property which is close to the Palace. My room felt like home. Great view of the little Eiffel Tower from the back balcony and from my windows. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only thing that was hard was there is no elevator because of its UNESCO standing and my luggage was 50 pounds - they only had female staff in the morning who were not able to assist. Perhaps hiring a bellboy would be helpful?"

"Delightful reception staff. Beautifully renovated mediaval building with some unique art pieces. To get to upper floors was a bit tedious with need to take two different elevators Breakfast had limited fresh fruit selections. As we stayed for 11 days,we have noticed some days were mediocre, depending on number of guests. Excellent location."

"The room and decor were beautifull with an ornate painted ceiling and stunning wood floor, sadly let down by the bathroom. The room had a very comfy super king size 4 poster bed, sofa with 2 additional period chairs, a dining table for 4. In the corner of the room was a kitchenette, but only cups and glasses even though it had a 2 ring hob! The usual tea, coffee etc. No plates or cutlery or cooking pans. The bathroom was dated and not in a good way. The bidet had been broken and glued...
