For an entire 2 weeks, we gorged ourselves on instant noodles while cruising on the Trans-Siberian railways through Mongolia and Russia...

So as you can imagine, we HAD to make a pilgrimage to the Instant Ramen Noodle Museum. It's an easy train ride to Ikeda from Osaka.

It was a fun-filled afternoon learning the the amazing legacy of instant cuisine as well as taking the cooking class to make our very own chicken flavoured noodles.

Make sure you book if you want to do the cooking class – we were lucky that they had 2 spots left in the class. It's well worth doing!

"First time in Kyoto and we had the best time in this traditional feeling Japanese ryoken. Staff was incredibly kind and accommodating. Their restaurant was traditional, inexpensive and very yummy. No complaints at all, would go back!!! Immaculate gardens around the property, good coffee shop on the parking lots, convenience store close by, close to a major bus route. Absolutely breathtaking neighborhood."

"The room was great. Clean and with wonderful views. The staff that checked us in made us wait more than 30 minutes because supposedly they did not have the room we had requested (corner room). I kept asking if everything was ok because they were speaking Japanese and finally he told me. Then he just said sorry we don’t have your room. And that was it. He didn’t offer an upgrade or any vouchers or anything. Just, sorry we don’t have your room. Then he said if it was ok if we stayed in a ‘family’ room. I didn’t know what he meant but in the end, when we went to the room, it was still really clean and nice."
