We absolutely loved our stay. Staff was so courteous and helpful. The rooms were clean and spacious. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was great. We hope to be back! The area is so beautiful. Be sure to hike over to the waterfalls and hopefully see some wild monkeys.

This was my first time staying at a ryokan. I had a wonderful time. The view was simply amazing. The dinner and breakfast meals were 10 out of 10 for presentation and taste. The baths were equally refreshing. The only thing I could critique is the bed was a little minimal compared to western beds I'm used to. I still got a great nights rest and would come back in a heartbeat.

This was our first trip to Japan, ever, so we wanted to experience authentic and traditional Japanese hospitality, and what an amazing surprise we got. We rented the suite, which is the annex. I loved staying here and regret not spending more than one night and time on site. The staff was very responsive to my messages and even let us leave luggage there after check-out until 9pm. They have traditional bath on the first floor that is tattoo friendly and beautiful. The bath water was a perfect temperature. They even give you traditional robes for it. Beside the leaking ceiling, the room was nice. I was upgraded and also the staffs were extremely kind and thoughtful. Gave me a welcome gift while during the stay and it was nice to see child hood snacks at the front. Decoration and the atmosphere were very nice. Over all lived my stay and would come back 20/10.

Absolutely stay here when in Kyoto. This was our favorite hotel on our trip to Japan. It is an authentic experience. Dinner and breakfast were great (though they may be tough for a picky eater). But most importantly, the staff was amazing. We have never felt more welcomed by a hotel. They became our friends. We will be back!

Staying here was very pleasant. After checking in, we reserved one of the private baths (Reservations are for 45 minutes, and one reservation can be made at a time,) and headed down to the town to walk around. The walk from the hotel to the station at the bottom/central area of town is about ten or fifteen minutes. The town has small shops with local treats, but we only walked around it for two hours and felt like we weren't missing anything major. The private baths are in their own secluded...
