"The Strathburn Hotel is probably one of the better accommodation options if you are travelling between Aberdeen and Inverness. The property is conveniently located close to the main trunk road, making it an easy stopover, and it appears to be well maintained and cared for. What really stood out during our stay was the quality of the staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful, but Sharon deserves special mention. She was exceptionally informative, approachable, and genuinely willing to go the extra mile to assist guests. Her positive attitude made a noticeable difference to our experience. The rooms and facilities were comfortable, and overall we found the hotel to be a pleasant and reliable place to stay. The only minor drawback we noticed was the lack of nearby shops or stores. At least during our visit, we did not come across any within easy walking distance, which could be inconvenient if you need to pick up essentials or snacks without driving. Overall, a very good stay with excellent service, and a hotel we would happily consider again when travelling through the area."

"The lodge was very nice, clean and tastefully presented. We did not meet the owners so cannot score them. Only negative was working out where our parking space was, creaky upstairs floorboards making the double bedroom noisy, not very warm water for showering and lack of laundry facilities - the reason I booked self catering for a mid week stay was to enable me to wash clothes but I was unable to find a machine and no mention of laundry in the owners guide. Complimentary food basket was excellent."

"Here’s a version under 1,500 characters:We cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay at Manar House. We traveled from Texas for a family wedding nearby, and Manar became the perfect home base for our family.The house itself is extraordinary — historic, beautiful, spacious, and full of character, while still having all the modern comforts you need. The suites were every bit as impressive as the photos, the kitchens and bathrooms were excellent, and even the water pressure was outstanding.Our kids, ages 11 and 9, loved the grounds. They spent hours outside on the rope swing, exploring, feeding the Highland cows, and enjoying the cool Scottish weather. My dad also fell in love with the horses in the nearby pasture and started calling them “his horses” by the end of the trip.The location was perfect: peaceful and private, but still close to Inverurie for restaurants, groceries, Tesco, Morrisons, and anything else we needed. I also loved being able to walk from the property to nearby trails and East Aquhorthies Stone Circle.Dean and Christina were fantastic hosts — kind, responsive, helpful, and easy to communicate with. They gave great local guidance and helped make the trip smooth.Manar House is not just a beautiful place to stay; it feels like a house with a story. We stayed at several lovely places in Scotland, but Manar was the one that truly felt like home. We are very grateful and would recommend it without hesitation."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights at Disblair House - the room was very comfortable with everything that we needed. Breakfast was amazing - so much choice and everything delicious. Karolyn and Chris are delightful hosts - very friendly and hospitable. The lounge with open fire and honesty bar were an added bonus in the evening. We highly recommend it to anyone and would love to return."

"It is a big hotel, but on our visit there were very few guests staying, and it was very quiet. The staff were friendly and efficient. The grounds are lovely, with grassy lawns and well-kept borders, but sadly, the view from our room was of a stone wall and some tatty looking sheds. The room was large and clean, and the bed was comfortable. However, the room was in need of some refurbishment. Breakfast was cooked to order."
