Love the ADK and really enjoyed staying at this location. Jay is a perfect spot to be able to enjoy all ADk has to offer. This property was the perfect size for a weekend getaway, the yard was beautiful, and we got to bring our dogs. The owner was available right away for help with the wifi. Definitely recommend this spot!
We stayed in the guest apartment with another couple. The space is clean and cozy. Bedrooms were very comfortable. We had an issue with the Internet one evening and Joanne took care of it right away. She is a wonderful host and even brought us some fresh baked blueberry muffins! Short distance to Saranac and Lake Placid villages. Quiet and peaceful area. Joanne has beautiful flower gardens all around the property. We were lucky enough to see a fawn from the balcony almost every morning of our stay. Love it here!
We had an absolute wonderful time staying at Joanna’s beautiful house in Jay, NY. It was so clean, beautifully decorated and had that rustic, ski cabin kind of feel. My son is on the freestyle ski team at Stratton Mt in VT and we had a competition at Whiteface from Thursday-Sunday for the Empire State Winter Games. Being able to stay at this gorgeous home for that time made our trip so easy and enjoyable. Only about 12 minutes from Whiteface and about 25 minutes from Lake Placid. We were able to enjoy evenings out where we had dinner at some of the great restaurants in Lake Placid and then toured the Olympic museum and were able to watch some of the amazing athletes compete in different sports in the Olympic complex! What a wonderful experience. The Adirondacks are absolutely breathtaking and we had the best time. Thank you, Joanna for opening up your beautiful home to us and to our pup 😃. We created beautiful memories that we will treasure forever!
Beautiful and clean, quiet and private, this is a real gem. Looking forward to staying here again in the fall and winter. Joanna was an attentive and gracious host. The muffins were perfect. The location was perfect as well, somehow remote yet convenient.
Loved the stay. Beautiful guest house. Used the 2 bedroom unit and the 1 bed studio below it. When home from hiking, we spent our time together in the living room and at the kitchen table. Table only sat 4 people, but we managed.

WoW! What an Awesome, Adventurous Vacation!
This was a great, private, beautiful spot nestled in the Adirondack's! It was located on an incredibly gorgeous cycling route that was so convenient for my boyfriend and I to hop on to. There were unbelieving scenic hiking trails near the lodge. We even hiked Whiteface, which was only about 10-15 minutes away. The unit of the lodge was so nice! It had the best of everything! We had such an amazing stay and getaway!

Amazing Place!
My Family and I stayed at Heartsong June 26th-July 29th. The place is absolutely beautiful! Joanna is amazing and very helpful! There were 14 of us and we had plenty of room. The kids enjoyed catching frogs and tadpoles in the pond and the adults enjoyed having a campfire at night. We had an amazing time! Thanks again Joanna for sharing your beautiful place with us!!!

Great place to relax and enjoy life!
The house was really inviting, clean and located in a wonderful surrounding of 10 acres of forest; a real treat for our dog! The host greated us upon arrival and brought us fresh eggs from the coop, a delight the morning after. The Christmas tree was setup as offered previously prior to our arrival. I recommend without hesitation this property.
Beautiful cottage close to Lake Placid area and Whiteface Mountain, with an amazing Host Joanna, who greeted us with muffins. Very flexible with pets. They also have lots of long hiking/ walking trails behind the house. One of my best VRBO rentals/ stays at all. Cottage is very clean and fully equipped. Highly recommended. Thank you Joanna
This location is charming and fit the needs of our group: of three coaches and three athletes.
The lodging is 13 minutes to the Whiteface Lodge (door to sitting in lodge). Which is perfect for the athletes to prepare before the race, and decompress after the race.
The owners of this lodge are the BEST, and helped us in our time of need with some last minute things.
For a small group of elite athletes this was perfect!!!
Beautiful houses. Very detailed and very ADK. Nice to have separate spaces for our 3 groups to have their own space. Very comfortable beds. Perfectly decorated. Joanna was very friendly and helpful. Shared veggies and herbs from her garden that we used in our dinner Saturday night. Made us muffins, which we thoroughly enjoyed for breakfast. Location was perfect for us to explore the beauty around us and close to my sons job at Ausable Chasm. Close to necessities we might have forgotten. Great fridges for all of our food. Everyone completely felt at home as soon as we walked in the door.

Winter Wonderland Christmastime visit
My family (couple and two teenage sons) are from S. FL and seek 'white Christmas' venues during our yearly school winter breaks. The Heartsong retreat's fully equipped accomodations are in nearly new (new around 2011) condition - nicely furnished/appointed. The location is within a short drive to myriad destinations one would seek in their quest of an Andirondack experience; from small town (Jay) eateries, shops, pubs, covered bridge, to nearby Lake Placid (itself a teeming lake and mountain town). We plan to return in the very popular Summer season, as our winter stay's enjoyment was beyond expectations. The owner's couldn't have been more helpful in their activity recommendations/accomodations. Lake Champlain & nearby Vermont and Montreal, CAN, are a few other excusions we plan to experience on our next Heartsong Retreat visit. As Robert Siskel would opine,"a BIG Thumbs Up" on this memorable Andirondack experience!

Absolutely Beautiful Property
I have always wanted to go to the Adirondack. My husband took me there, along with our family, for my 60th Birthday. I was not disappointed. The property was magical.
We rented out the bottom of the main house and the carriage house. The bottom of the main house has 2 bedrooms and a nice size bathroom. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you will need. We took most of our meals in the main house and there was plenty of room for 10 people. The Carriage House is adorable. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs with a great kitchen. Once again with everything you need. There is also a very nice bathroom with a great shower. On the lower level is a very cute studio apartment with small kitchenette and full bath.
The quality of the workmanship thru out the property is very high quality. REALLY comfortable.
There was also a huge fire pit where we were able to have a fire while we sat around on the big rocks telling tales. Perfect.
Joanna, Peter and Romeo (the Dog) could not have been more accommodating.
I can't wait to go back.

The property is beautiful and very clean however the pictures leave the wrong impression
We are a family of 15 and spent three days over the Presidents Day weekend at this property. While there is ample room , well equipped , and very clean, the pictures create the impression that you will be renting the entire house . In reality you are in a basement apartment with a separate garage converted to guest house, with the owners living in the main house above.
A big problem we encountered with this set up was the owners have large dogs living upstairs (and obviously the basement apartment when not rented). My 14 year old Grandson has severe asthma and is extremely allergic to dogs. Within one hour of our arrival he had an asthma attack . He could not be in the basement apartment at all the entire three days.
This let us with either all squeezing into the very small garage apartment for meals , games and just being together, or leaving him alone in the garage apartment.
The other really big issue was the property is Covered in dog Poop . The kids playing in the snow building a snow man came in covered in dog poop. Just getting into the cars meant the kids would be dragging it into our cars on their feet.
The pictures also show a laundry room. On arrival the owners daughter told us because we would only be there 3 days we shouldn't need it but if we did let her know and they would unlock it.
Even with the issues we encountered it is a beautiful property. I just wish we were more prepared up front & could have made a better decision for our family.
Loved everything about The house! Extremely clean and decorated so well with all the Adirondack flair. JOANNA is an amazing hostess and made us feel comfortable before we even arrived. She brought us fresh muffins and had so many extra items within the house you don’t need to pack: toiletries, towels, spices, etc.
The only thing that would have made it perfect for us, was if the house was set further back off the road. We have a 3 year-old German Shepherd who is a little too curious and likes to chase wildlife 😊
Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again!
Property is beautiful and clean. We stayed in the upstairs apartment. There were 4 adults and there was plenty of space. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, and Joanna even brought us fresh baked muffins our first morning there. We had perfect weather for most of the trip and were able to enjoy the deck and fire pit. We had some trouble with the WiFi our first day, but a quick message to Joanna and it was all cleared up. Very pleased with the whole experience.
We had a fantastic stay at Joanna’s place. It was clean, comfortable and rustic cozy. The location is ~15 minute drive to Lake Placid and other towns… but beautifully situated with walking trail behind house which we and our dog loved for morning and evening walks. We’ll definitely be back!
We stayed for a long weekend and really enjoyed it. The kitchen is well stocked, comfy beds and linens. It was nice to have AC at night while we were there during a hot spell in the ADK in August. Joanna is a great host. Highly recommend!
We had a lovely stay. The property is beautiful, and Joanna responded promptly to our questions before our arrival. She greeted us onsite and provided some excellent suggestions for hikes in the area.
