"We were given a room at the rear of the hotel which was in a converted annex. This was nicely decorated with basic amenities although we did have a shower and a bath. The accommodation was on 2 floors, with the bathroom on the ground floor and the bedroom on the first floor. This was not very convenient for us when using the bathroom during the night, especially as the stairs were steep and creaked, waking us both each time. There was one chair upstairs and one downstairs so we couldn't both sit together. We were given tea and coffee but no water. Staff were helpful when you could get hold of them but they took a long time to respond to the bell when called, if they responded at all."

"Good location on the main square with on street parking. Nice evening meal but overpriced. I think the owner is new and still learning the hospitality trade. Breakfast distinctly average Hotel public rooms have been refurbished, room nice but bathroom still needed a little attention. Overall we enjoyed our stay."

"Lovely quiet area. Nice that there's only four lodges. Wild life is fabulous.The lodge has everything you need for your stay, plus the added bonus of TVs in the bedrooms.Great that there is no mobile phone signal, so it's very relaxing even though there is internetNot too far into Masham for groceries.Our only criticism is, and it's personal preference, is that the sofas are a bit to low for us.The dog loved watching the rabbits and squirrels.Will visit again"

"Snowdrop Cottage is a very old warm and cosy cottage on the edge of the quiet village of Thornton Steward. The kitchen is equipped with everything that you might need and on arrival there is milk in the fridge and a basket of treats so you can just put your bags down and the kettle on before unpacking. The Caretakers next door are lovely people so if you need any help or information about the cottage or the local area, just knock on their door and they will be happy to help. Not all mobile phones work in the cottage, ours don't but we don't mind at all, it's lovely to have peace and quiet. We've stayed in the cottage 4 times and hope to return later this year so if you are looking for a relaxing and peaceful break, this charming cottage Snowdrop might be the place for you."

"It is beautiful property, elegantly presented and fully equipped. Delightful hosts in a gorgeous countryside location only 25 mins to the centre of Ripon. Guests with significant mobility challenges might need to be aware of the sunken bath / shower. The beds and bed linen were high quality and very comfortable. We'd love to return. "
