"We booked a triple premium however they are not the pet friendly rooms, there is no option on hotels.com to book a pet friendly room. Thank goodness they had one available for us to move into, albeit a smaller double room with a laminated floor was the difference. The hotel is lovely, friendly staff and the food very good"

"We had an exceptional stay at Compton House. Our room felt luxurious - it was beautiful, spacious, spotlessly clean, and incredibly comfortable, with a great bed that guaranteed us a perfect night’s sleep. Patricia was a wonderfully welcoming host who made us feel completely at home and truly spoilt us throughout our stay. Breakfast was delicious, with an impressive variety of food served in a spectacular dining room. The entire house is elegant, warm, and stately, filled with interesting art and antiques, yet still homely and inviting. It’s peaceful, beautifully furnished, and perfectly located with amazing walks and stunning scenery right on the doorstep. We couldn’t be happier with our stay - highly recommended."

"The accommodation was smart, spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. The host was extremely friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was of excellent quality, freshly cooked, hot and tailored to whatever were required. The sitting rooms had hot drinks available and provided a comfortable space to relax. I can’t praise the Old Manor House highly enough."

"Lovely lodge, very close to Cheddar, the Gorge and ameneties (close enough to walk if you don't want to drive). Comfortable and quiet."

We also wanted to be able to enjoy a grand meal together for up to 14 of us. Compton House was perfect for us - a very unusual and lovely property. "The property was very well equipped & in a lovely position on the site. It was very peaceful. The couple of queries we had were immediately resolved by the reception staff. If I was pushed to have a slight negative comment it would be that there were no instruction booklets for the kitchen appliances. "
