"This review is probably affected by their refusal to refund me for the day I missed. I showed up one day late because I got the reservation dates wrong.. they refused to give me a refund and so did Expedia. I even had insurance but still no refund for the missed day. your excuse at the hotel was that I paid through Expedia, so Expedia should do the refund. Anyway, I’m pretty upset about the whole thing and all I can remember is I had a miserable time there because I got billed for two nights, but only stayed one and they refused to help. Never stay there and never use Expedia to book either becaus/e you won’t get your money back."

"The nightmare scenario is to pull up to a hotel late at night after a long cross-country flight, only to find a darkened, locked, and seemingly desolate facility. Unfortunately, this was my experience at the Amelia Island Schoolhouse Inn. I was traveling from the West Coast and needed a reliable place to stay overnight before catching the ferry to Cumberland Island the next morning. While the front desk did email me to ask about my arrival time, they sent it while I was in the air, meaning I didn't see it until I was already standing outside a locked building at 10:00 PM. I eventually found a back entrance and a phone number on a mailbox. After calling, I waited 15 minutes for someone to arrive, only to be told "there was a mix-up." The staff member then asked me what room I was staying in (I had no idea), pointed me toward the stairs without showing me to the room, and failed to provide basic information like how to leave the facility without being locked out, or where to find food. The next morning, there was zero follow-up regarding the incident, nor was the breakfast situation ever explained (I think there was a continental breakfast put out? The woman at the desk said nothing beyond, "Good morning. Are you checking out?") It’s a cute property, but basic hospitality and attention to detail—like ensuring all expected guests are safely checked in before locking up—were completely lacking. If you are arriving late, be wary."

"The property had "long timers" sitting in chairs outside smoking. I knew upon arrival I had made a mistake. The price was inexpensive, but our room door did not shut all the way - holes let in bugs and tons of noise and lights when people pulled in and out. Upstairs you could hear a dog pacing and a ball bouncing. We got up and left at 2am because we were sketched out and scared our vehicle would be vandalized and we could not sleep due to noise. The room was clean, but bugs came in due to gap in seal of outside door."
